Matthew’s smile was enough to make her heart thump in cheery response- his laugh made it nearly leap out of her chest. For many people, trying to make others happy could feel draining at times. Ainsley never felt this way when it came to Matthew. In fact, to elicit positive responses from him only brought her exuberance. “I know,” she grinned in response, watching him break into the bag with satisfaction. “It was their one request, Matthew. We couldn’t possibly deny them the one thing they wanted in life.” With that, she reached over to grab some of the small, fruity bears herself before popping them into her mouth.
“Hm, depends. If you’re feeling romantic comedy, I brought Silver Linings Playbook. I also brought Ferris Bueller’s Day off because Matthew Ferris… get it?” She couldn’t help but laugh before she put her face in her hands, knowing how badly embarrassing herself. “I’m such a goon, god. How are you going to stand my embarrassing jokes all night? Sorry, okay, here’s all the movies I brought so just pull whatever one you want out of the stack.” She reached over to grab the dvd cases and put them in his lap.
Matthew hummed lightly to himself as his eyes scanned over the movie options. She brought more than a couple, he realized, as he laid the rest of them out on the coffee table in front of them. He glanced at her, trying not to laugh at her to avoid giving her the satisfaction — “That must be the lamest of all lame jokes I have ever heard from you, Ains. And there’ve been quite a few.” A few more gummies in, he turned to her and shrugged, winking at her playfully as he joked. “Same way I’ve stood through all those jokes — zoning out.” Letting out a happy sigh as he recognized one of the titles, he brought the case onto his lap and smirked. “Favorite movie, right? Moonrise Kingdom? I think we’ve got a winner.” He raised his brows as he waved it up against his chest. “I still haven’t ever seen it.”
