Sophie chuckled and smiled as Matt took her suitcase. “Glitter? That shit is fun, but in my past experience, if you wear it to go out and come home drunk and pass out in bed? You keep finding that shit on everything. I’m talking months later. It never goes away.” Sophie mused walking in the cabin. “I mean, I would sure hope you would know if it was your birthday today or not—but no reason needed. Accept the nice Sophie, now.” Sophie smiled. “It’s in my luggage, which honestly I don’t want to ruin the surprise so I’ll give you the gift when you’re least expecting it.” She placed her luggage in the living room before taking her sunglasses off. “You look good, Matt. I missed you!” Sophie embraced him in a hug and pulled away. “So, drinks? I know it’s early but we’re on vacation right?” Sophie walked over to the bar after kicking off her sandals. “So, catch me up to speed. What’s been going on in the wonderful world of Matt?” The blonde asked, back facing Matthew as her blue eyes scanned the bar. After a few moments she turned around to face him across the bar, a bottle of tequila in her right hand as she held it up. “Wait–are you on dad duty? Maybe you should stick to water.”
“Yeah, well try being a kindergarten teacher. I still find glitter in my shoes occasionally.” Matt put down her suitcase and looked around the cabin before fixing his eyes back on her, watching her take off her sunglasses. “I appreciate you thinking that I have any idea of what day it is today, but it really could be my birthday and I’d have no idea,” Matt said with a grin. After returning her tight hug, he chuckled, shaking his head. “Dad duty has never stopped me from drinking. Besides, you know I can hold my liquor,” he added. “The wonderful world of Matt is mostly hanging out with my kid, Oliver, and Garrett. Doing work, burnt my kitchen down once... that’s about it.”
