I’ve been working quite heavily on a personal project, dealing mainly with the Border Reivers.
Something kinda old
Cracking out the oils
My friend came up with this idea. Moray eel in a mech suit, a remarkable foe.
First formulated in secret Imperial labs in 1914, the Hyänen Legion have successfully instilled terror into the hearts of Allied Defenders. Their aggressive training and animal ferocity allow groups of Sturmtruppen to clear no-mans land quicker than their line-infantry brethren. With ample use of powerful grenades and terrifying, deep cackles, these bloodthirsty attackers make short work of Allied trenches. A bit of fun doing an anthropomorphic character. First one I ever did. I Made a Heavy Metal cover too, because that Iconic logo just looks so good.
More messing about on the iPad. Decided to do a quick Knight in shining armour. Wanted to explore something with an old suit of armour in just a flat colour environment, the sort of context you'd never really see such a character in. Might follow this up with a green night.
The result of more messing about on the iPad Pro, decided on a landscape this time. Was listening to a lot of history podcasts so I fancied some kind of terribly simple almost brutalist ancient fortifications. I imagined this as the last crossing into some sort of wild untamed land, with only the most daring traders and a steadfast garrison.
Worked on the iPad Pro a little more, this thing isn't just good as a sketchpad, it's decent as a tool for finished illustrations as well. Had a lot of fun with this.
A process video showing my work on the iPad pro.
Just invested in an iPad Pro, this thing rocks! So comfortable and fun to use. Honestly to me it feels nicer than a cintiq.
I was fortunate enough to run a class at the University of Cumbria where I covered some elements of digital painting. It was a great experience, nerve wracking but a lot of fun. I worked on a bit of this painting during the class, but finished it at home.
Updated version of an older image, there was a lot I was unhappy with so I was happy to revisit things.
My friends Tiefling War Cleric, his name is Hist. This was a lot of fun, he was already designed, but my friend was curious as to how he would look when designed by me, and given some of my flare. Had a lot of freedom on this while also having a clear direction so it was an ideal project.
More stuff for my DnD character. It’s been fun to do some none NDA work for myself.
The heads of past Wardens line the fells of the western marches. Their vigil is constant, as the men of the watch keep candles lit inside their eyes in the hopes that their gaze will dissuade would-be plunderers.
