Zane had gone home to shower and change his clothes before going back to the hospital to be with Jude. His phone had died a while ago and he hadn’t been able to text Matthew, which he felt bad about, but with everything else going on, it had slipped his mind. Hearing the water running as he walks inside, he breathes out a sigh of relief happy to know his cousin was okay. “Matthew?”: He calls out, looking around for his cousin.
He was in his own little world when he vaguely heard a voice in the apartment. Unless someone had just broken into his apartment, Zane had finally come home. Turning the water off, he lingered for a second to listen for any other sounds, before calling back. “Zane? I’m just taking a shower - I’ll be out in a bit!” He hurried to finish the shower and got dressed before leaving the bathroom, smiling slightly as he saw his cousin. “Hey, you alright?”
Ever since the accident that had happened earlier that week, Xander had been completely rushed off his feet at work. Of course, he didn’t mind one bit, helping people was the reason he went into a medical career anyway, but he hadn’t ever expected such a mass of patients to happen in a town like Crownsville. But now, he was finally finished for the night after what seemed to be like the longest shift of his life, and he was sat at the bar with a whiskey in hand. “I know what you’re thinking,” he began. “A doctor shouldn’t be drinking alcohol,” he added with a laugh, shaking his head in amusement before taking a sip from his glass.
“Maybe not,” Matthew agreed. “But after this week, and as long as you’re not working right now, I feel like you deserve it.” He raised his own glass to the other before taking a sip. It felt like the week had lasted forever, but the town was slowly starting to get back to normal, at least partially. Most were out of the hospital by now, as far as he knew, but he could only imagine how busy it had been there the past week. “Must have been some long days for you, huh?”
“Question for you…is it too late for me to uptake becoming a Beverly Hills nanny?” she asked the other jokingly. The Tallis had just completed her first week as an athletic trainer at the high school and the girl was already over it. “I honestly did not realize how needy teenagers are.”
“Don’t know if it would be too late. Probably not. But why would you want to do that?” Matthew asked, a little puzzled. He didn’t have much experience working with teenagers himself, just the few that came to the gym every now and then. “Are they really that bad?”
Matthew woke up with a grunt, and for a second forgot about the horrible accident that had occurred the day before. Then he remembered. Quickly, he grabbed his phone from his bedside table to see if there were any news from Zane, but nothing. Then he went on and checked the news. The pictures made his stomach turn, and he put it down. He hadn’t been injured himself, but had helped those who needed it afterwards. Zane said he was okay, and had gone with his boyfriend to the hospital, who had suffered more severe injuries. It was good that they had each other, but he hoped his cousin would come home at some point though, just to check in. But when he walked out into the hallway he didn’t see any traces of any visitors during the night. “Oh well,” he muttered and sighed. He debated whether he should call or not, but decided against it, not wanting to intervene. Instead he went to take a shower, then he’d make some breakfast later. Probably make some extra for when Zane got back, he needed food at some point and he didn’t know if they had any at the hospital.

Lives with his cousin, @zaneneptune
Comes from a very conservative family and was raised with narrow minded and prejudice views of the world.
Has an older sister he - for the most part - has a good relationship with, but has a very complicated relationship with his parents. He loves them, but doesn't share most of their beliefs. Especially their treatment of his cousin, Zane, after he came out, troubled him a lot and he lost a lot of respect for them. Since he was a kid he always struggled to speak up for himself when it came to them.
Made a lot of his early career choices based on what his parents wanted. They were very clear about what they wanted for their kids, and Matthew wanted to live up to their expectations of him.
Has a degree in economics, and worked in a bank for a couple of years, but quit a couple of years ago to try something else. Worked at a gym for a long time, but recently he got a new job to work as an assistant in a veterinary office, which suits him a lot better since he's always had a love for animals.
Hates to disappoint people and make mistakes, but instead of being humble about it and apologizing he has a tendency to go into full defense mode instead. If he does something wrong, it's usually someone else's fault - even though it isn't.
Awful at self criticism.
Is not the best at talking about feelings, so he doesn't do it much. Will rather show it, but isn’t always good at that either.
Was in a horrible relationship a few years ago where his girlfriend lied and treated him badly, so he doesn't open up and trust that easily.
Can seem a bit harsh sometimes, but is actually a big softie.
Would love to adopt all the animals, hasn’t done so. Yet. As of now he's only looked after friends pets and done some dog walking, but haven't been able to have one permanently. Often stops people to ask if he can pet their dog.
Loves working out and being outdoors, and can sometimes be seen on a run in the early hours of the day.
he’s still developing, but here you go! any connection is wanted at this point tbh, but especially friends, ex(es) ?? co-workers??
