I appreciate how minimalist yet abstracted and complex the figure is. I find myself constantly keeping form in mind within my next work.

The pose of the model feels almost heavy and unbalanced. However, the dark luster of the medium portrays an accurate sense of emotion and mood conceptually to the viewer.

The smooth surface of the hair is something Ive been looking at. When sculpting the hair I have been struggling to get the smooth illusion across, it becomes choppy and distracts from the elegant appearance I strive to create.
The delicacy of the folds is something I want to explore. I’ve been struggling creating soft textures on a hard surface model.

The bust up profile of Sculpture is an interesting method of display. The bottom of the bust becomes the display method itself. Its an interesting idea to play with.
In her ongoing series of figurative sculptures titled Milky Ways, artist Mihoko Ogaki explores ideas of life, death, and rebirth.
I really enjoy the way Ogaki utilizes the negative space of her surroundings as an element to expand the plane of the sculpture. It’s something to think about while I explore the presentation method of the 3D project.

Ira Reines, “Life Creation”, Bronze
I do not plan to create such a condensed figure with complex ornamentation. However, Ira Reines’ “Life Creation” does have me questioning the size of production and the format in which it will be formally displayed. Within the final ideation for the 3D printing project. I plan to sculpt my own volumetric 3D sculpt of a human figure in ZBrush, and then bring the sculpt into Rhino. Once the form of the project has be 3D printed, it is desired to take the figure utilizing acrylics and texture the figure. Followed by casting the figure in a glossy Resin or clear polymer to simulate the appearance of glass.

Michael James Talbot‘s “Midday Sun” not only captures the subtle nuances of the human form, but also encompasses the juxtaposition of the artist desired concept. Choice of medium complements the subject matter as the warmth and intensity of the figures substance is translated through the earthy tones of the bronze. The metallic substrate also allows for a higher sense of depth as it creates a volumetric form.

David Begbie’s “ISUUU” has had me contemplating how I desire to simulate texture within my model. I plan to texture and paint the figure to create a fraile simulated appearance of glass or sculpture.

I’ve been looking into a lot of David Begbie’s mesh wire sculptures for inspiration with the 3D project. With the project I aim to bring my two dimensional figures into a three dimensional plane. My work typically consist of one figure at the focal point. Begbie’s work has had me thinking about how I want to approach the volumetric 3D sculpt of a human figure. Contemplating how to perhaps make the form more dynamic by perhaps integrating and abstracting multiple figures into the composition.
