Born in the wastelands, Maddox Atwood was the only son of Lester and Mary Atwood. He was their pride and joy — a true miracle after years spent trying to conceive a child. Unfortunately, the son they so desperately prayed for was not like any of the other boys in their village. He spoke of dark and terrible times… of a past life before this one. Maddox spent the entirety of his childhood isolated because the other kids his age didn’t like being around him. He got along better with the adults and the elderly people of the village, though he quickly learned to keep memories of his past life to himself.
He went through the motions, as was expected of him. He farmed and tended to the livestock until his parents died and nothing remained to tie him down to his hometown. Maddox sold his land and all of the cattle and livestock, and chose to carry nothing but a small sack of necessities on his quest to find the reincarnation of Rhea. He had promised the former Titan that he would accompany her and hide her from the all-seeing eyes of the Gods above. He was just a little late to the game. Maddox wandered from town to town, relying solely on his belief in the fates, until he finally met Rafaela Flowers. She looked different and was much younger than he had expected her to be (the latter being a source of undeniable shock for the man when he recognized her).
Perhaps it was this young age and the fact that Maddox never had a wife or children that strengthened his resolve to protect the woman. From that day henceforth, he was inseparable from Rafaela. Always he stood at her side, serving as a source of counsel and defender of sorts. When she took what was left of Atlantis and turned it into a fleet of ships, Maddox gladly took position as her Quartermaster. They had gathered what allies they had from their past lives and were closer now than ever to achieving their goals. While Rafaela wanted to help her children — the dear Olympians that had become drunk on their power — Maddox remains on the more neutral side. He has little desire to help the Olympians as fate was something he always let naturally develop; it’s Rafaela that he pledged fealty to. Her unconditional love for her children and her desire to save what was left of her family is what drives him to act. The question that remains is: how far is he willing to twist and bend the fates in favor of their cause?
*Maddox retains his memories despite his alliance.
Moros is the personification of impending doom, who drives mortals to their deadly fate. He is one of the offspring of Nyx (Night), who had conceived him without male intervention, and brother of the Moirai (Fates). It was even proclaimed by the Fates that not even Zeus could question Moros (destiny), who like his mother, Nyx, was invisible and dark.
Rafaela Flowers: Moros never had a father. It was a mother’s love that perplexed him. While he never yearned for it, he always admired Rhea for her devotion to her children. When she came to him to ask him to accompany her to the mortal world, he agreed. As Maddox, he feels responsible for Rafaela and is uniquely loyal to only her. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for the woman, in the end. She was always a Queen after all.
