Simon let Maurice help him sit and was extremely grateful for it. He never said it, never let on how much it hurt for fear of the others feelings. He didn’t want them to feel worse than he already knew they did, especially Ralph. So he stayed silent, and he carried on.

But even from his seat, he still tugged lightly at Maurice’s sleeve, eager to see the tiny creature he’d gifted him. 

“Let me see.” He spoke excitedly. “Do you like him? He needs a name. I didn’t name him.”
