Yes, Rose is Dirk, and Dave is Roxy, but here's what you need to understand... The Striders are anxiously attached, and the Lalondes are avoidantly attached.
Rose might be Dirk, but there is absolutely no way that Dirk Strider is going to forget about his date to get sloshed.
Dave might be Roxy, but Dave would never be careless enough to let his pets die.
The Striders are insanely attached to the people and the things they love, and obsess over them constantly. They shape their entire personality and being around the people they love. The Lalondes are obviously capable of love, but they would rather be distant from it all.
Roxy craves love and affection, she's a very sweet girl! But she wants it from a very surface level, she doesn't actually know her friends the way Dave knows his friends. This is pretty healthy on her part, tho. Dave is a lot more sensitive, and it actually begins to kill him a little bit, because he knows them extremely well, but they actually do not know him as well, even though they love him.
This is why, you see both Rose and Roxy have substance abuse issues, to get rid of the pain of isolation or grief or whatever their sorrows are. Both Dave and Dirk are extreme control freaks who are very strict with the way they conduct themselves. Dave doesn't seem as intense as Dirk, but he's often maintaining multiple stable time loops at any given point at the risk of his own life. He has proven his desire to die for his friends, by dying for them, over and over again.
