a four-time interplanetary ice skating champion abruptly changes from the Uranian to Martian skating team, and is driven and obsessed with perfecting the elusive quintuple axel

she’s not particularly interested in making friends, but a fellow teammate keeps following her around and doesn’t seem to mind how she rebuffs their flirting - and is somehow intrigued by them

but across the skating season (and galaxy), she gets to know them and some of her other teammates as she gets increasingly closer to breaking point
