The Temper Trap | Sweet Disposition
Somewhere Only We Know || Thax
A bright smile spread across Thomas’ face when Max asked him if he had any idea how happy he’d made him today and pressed their foreheads together. He was glad that his boyfriend—fiancé was happy, because that was all he wanted; to see that beautiful smile gracing the boy’s lips. A shiver ran down his spine when he heard him say ‘fiancé’ and he had to agree it did sound amazing. But their lips were already pressed together again before Thomas could reply, and he brought up his hand to the back of Max’s neck, his fingers curling around the hairs at the base of his neck. A somewhat muffled moan slipped from his mouth through a small gap as their lips moved together slowly, his hand moving up his head, tugging lightly on his curls. He didn’t even care about the view anymore, even though it was one of his last chances to look out over Harper Island in all its glory, and the endless clear blue ocean that surrounded them. The songs sung to them by the birds in the trees didn’t reach his ears, nor did the sound of the wind rustling the leaves. It all didn’t matter at the moment.
“Hmm, fiancé,” Thomas mumbled against his lips as he flipped Max onto his back, hovering over the younger boy while his lips tugged up into a smile. He repeated the word a couple more times, kissing him in between every time he spoke. Max was right, it felt good to say it and it gave him butterflies every time. Of course he had said it before, but that was before he had asked his boyfriend to marry him. It was different now that they were actually engaged. “You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to call you that, and now I finally can. It’s one of the best feelings in the world, I think.” Thomas nuzzled their noses together for a brief moment before he pressed another gentle kiss to Max’s lips. “And soon enough I’ll be able to call you my husband, isn’t that just amazing?” He was already looking forward to their wedding (even though they hadn’t even had the time to discuss things yet), determined not to mess things up like he had done before. He wasn’t going to cheat on Max, especially not because this time it was actually true love and not something his parents had set up.
Thomas didn’t want to break Max’s heart, and he was going to make sure that wasn’t ever going to happen, either. Out of the two of them, people had always thought he’d be the first to cheat, because wasn’t that what they always said? Once a cheater, always a cheater. It surprised him as well that Max had actually cheated on him, but that wasn’t what mattered right now. Not anymore, at least. Something that did, however, was that he didn’t want the same things that happened in London to happen when they’d get back to New York. He wanted to avoid that at all costs, because he wasn’t sure if he would be able to handle another big fight anytime soon. “I love you, have I told you that lately?” Thomas murmured while he looked down at Max and smiled at him, hooking his fingers around the boy’s jaw, brushing his thumb over his cheek. He felt the corners of his mouth curl up, his eyes meeting the bright green orbs staring right back up at him; the eyes he had admired ever since he was a kid. “Because I really do, more than you’ll ever know.”
Max's back hit the grass with a soft "oof" when Thomas suddenly took him by surprise and flipped them over. He stared up into Thomas' eyes, getting lost in his piercing blue gaze, smiling brighter than he had ever done before. He was engaged to the most beautiful, most perfect man on the face of the earth. Thomas was his and only his, for now and for ever, til death do they part, but even then, he knew that they'd still be together. He didn't have time to say anything as Thomas leaned in, peppering him with kisses, the word "fiancé" on repeat, punctuating each kiss. Max giggled like a school girl, wrapping his arms around Thomas' neck, bringing him closer each time he kissed him. Max nodded in agreement. "It definitely is. There is no doubt about it in my mind." Max threaded his fingers through Thomas' feathery hair as they kissed, pulling his body flush against his. He loved just how perfectly they fit together, like two pieces of a puzzle, no matter what position they were in. Max sighed dreamily, pictures of Thomas and him walking down the aisle flooding his mind, their friends and family (well, his mother) around them as they said their vows that they had written themselves.
He didn't care that his clothes probably had grass stain on them, or that there was dirt and God knows what else in his hair, because right now, the only thing that mattered to him was the man hovering above him and the ring on his finger. "I know what you mean, baby. I'm so in love with you, it hurts sometimes. My heart literally cannot hold all of the love I have for you, which is why in each moment of each day, I show you just how much I care for you, otherwise, I'll explode. Every day I wonder what I did right to deserve someone like you." He brought one of his hands up to mirror Thomas' actions, cupping his cheek, thumb brushing over the cheekbone. Taking him by surprise, Max pulled the older boy down so that he was now laying beside him on the ground, his head on his shoulder, wrapped up in Max's arms. Max looked over at him, smiling lovingly as he looked into the blue eyes that could stare straight into his soul. "Trust me, babe, I'm pretty sure I know exactly what you're talking about, because I feel the same way about you. I love you so fucking much."
Max threaded his fingers through Thomas' feathery locks, running them through his hair, gently massaging his scalp. "When did you have time to do all of this, baby? I mean, you were almost with me 24/7 because I wouldn't let you out of my sight after your attempt." He pulled Thomas' left arm up to his face, gently placing kissing up and down the lengths of the two scars forming on them from when he'd self harmed before his suicide attempt. Every day, Max thanked God that Thomas had not succeeded in killing himself, because if he had, that's when Max's whole life would have ended too. He could live without Thomas, of that he was certain. Being away from him while he was still in Europe and Max had come back to the island had been hard enough, but they still talked on occasion, Skyping once or twice while they were apart. "And it was perfect, by the way. Location, everything you said, you. Just everything." He looked down at the ring on his finger, smiling softly. "Its beautiful. Just like you."

Young Tommy. These were sent to me the first week after I'd moved away. Then I didn't hear from him again until I saw him 6 years later.
