Ăngel: I don't own a toaster.
Ăngel: Is this you, Marcel?
Max: This Max. Unless I went to some office and changed my name when I was drunk.
Max: But I checked my wallet, my card still said Max Harrison.
Max: Who is this again?
âOh yeahâŠIâm sure this ratty old thing would sell for a whopping three bucks on Ebay,â she shot back with a laugh. âEh, I donât need that much money.â She pointed a finger in the maleâs direction, heâd been in enough that she recognized him now. âYouâŠyouâre the weird drunk guy. Last time you left me a tip that included a pack of gum and six pennies. You are in no place to judge.â
âIâd just thrash it you know. God knows it belonged to someone who had a weird fetish, jerking off to it.â The corners of his lips turned down in a mocking manner. âAt least the pack of gum is unopened and you can use it. Plus, I didnât know where else to dispose 6 pennies. You guys donât have a nice wishing well or fountain,â Max countered back, making a face to her. âAnd the name is Max, not weird, drunk guy.â

The day consisted of her shooting off rounds in the basement, always finding the need to practice with some sort of weaponry to be prepared for anything that came her way. It wasnât that she expected some big war to take place, but rather, fighting was in her blood. It was who she was, with craving the violence, and it had been long before she changed into the undead that she felt such a way. The women of her village were warriors, and to this day, Mitra was still very much so a woman of strength. Gathering her sword, one that was very old, but still very sharp, she replaced it in its sheath, before leaving to head upstairs. Work still needed to be done, and sheâd put it off for a day or so. That was plenty of time to take a break from the council, or at least thatâs what a workaholic wouldâve said.Â
Something caught her attention though, passing through the halls of doors that led to her room. A sound of clicking noises that didnât cease, and the closer she got to the sound, the more her curiosity was getting the better of her. She stopped just outside a door, and when she heard the window open, her back immediately straightened. Someone was in her house, and the scent was easily picked up. Human. Eyes that never shifted to their natural hues, only grew brighter at the anger that someone had gotten into her home, but then she smiled. Turning it into a game. Slowly she opens the door, spotting the young man that had entered who seemed oblivious to her presence. She unsheathes her sword, and scrapes it along the tile, the scraping noise the only indication of her presence. âHello,â she spoke, voice smooth and low as she eyed him with a smirk. âWelcome to my home.â
His body went rigid as soon as he heard the voice. It sounded melodic to him but Max had learnt never to associate how sweet someone can sound to what theyâre capable of. He composed himself before turning to meet the woman. She wouldnât be able to see his masked face coupled with his cybernetic dark glasses. âHi,â he replied back, his voice was muffled and there was no accent highlighting it. âBeautiful home,â he continued before his gaze went to the weapon in her hand. usually his heart would start thumping very loudly against his rib cage but oddly, this time... there was none. Instead, Max bounced on the balls of his feet, completely relaxed. âWhat have you got there?â he nodded towards the sword. It looked antique but the gleam against the dim light made him aware that it was sharp.Â
If this woman is going to hurt him, heâll be damned. His hands were crossed behind his back, making sure that the hallucinogenic syringes were there. A  thief with toys -- thatâs what heâd like to brand himself. max scrunched up his face although the woman could only see the movement against his ski mask and not his actual face. âYou know, I was just curious what it looked like inside of the house. It looks majestic.â This part was the truth. Max had admired this house for a fair bit since he moved here. âIf youâre going to bring me around for a tour, I suggest no need since I have my own two feet. But if you want to tie me down or chop my family jewels off for trespassing, Iâm going to say thatâs a very bad idea, lady.âÂ

Was this idea crazy? Yeah it was. But then again, crazy has always been synonymous with his name. At first it was just a playful thought. Then it was the natural streak of rebelliousness had sparked the desire in him. Stealing trinkets and money from a house is nothing â thatâs childâs play to Max. And he missed it horribly. Moving to Salt Creek was mainly to hide away and make sure he was never found by the authorities or practically anyone else he had pissed off in the United Kingdom. But Max ached for the day he was able to climb walls, throw himself over them and streak across a field undetected because his calibrators had done their job. Now was the opportunity to do it again. This time, it wasnât for anyone else, it was mainly due to Maxâs curiosity to the huge estates around the suburbs and his desire to see whatâs inside. He works for no one and this gave Max much more a thrill.
He planned for days, keeping the idea to himself. That itching under his skin grew day by day and when the fateful day came, everything was going smoothly. He had a grace period of 30 minutes â that was when the security guys in the estate would patrol to the other side of the humongous house, leaving this particular locale unmonitored save for a few cameras. Max grinned by the time he reached the window, proud of himself for getting this far. Now onto the⊠His mind was whirring as he picked the lock at the window and slipped inside.
It had been one of those nightsâŠthe kind where Iliana wished she had the balls to drink while on the clock. Unfortunately she was better than that, and at the current moment she didnât have enough hands anyway. Off the clock now, she felt eyes on her, and cast her own glance down to the odd array of items in her possession. âWhat can I sayâŠpeople leave me weird shit in lieu of tips sometimes. Iâd be pissed about it if it wasnât so fucking amusing.â
He arched a brow, following her gaze down to whatever that she was holding close to her frame. âWeird shit in lieu of tips? Really?â Max eyed the stuffed toy in her arms. âYou can never replace money with those... Unless you want to sell that stuffed toy. Lord knows where that came from and who has touched it.â

History
Max, was the son, London politicians - Andrew and Caitlin Evans- who never wanted in their lives. He was referred to as âthe accidentâ. Never caring for the child, Max grew up lonely, usually cared for by a series of foreign nannies and his own grandma. He was constantly curious and innovative. Maxâs head is usually filled with math he didnât understand at a young age. Only when he was introduced to his genius uncle, Roman, then Max knew they were literally kindred spirits. Through Uncle Roman, Max began to understand his gift and started building things out of his own backyard- knowing his mind was constantly working to build something. He mastered picking locks at a young age, exploring his grandparentsâ estate in Nottingham which was considered large for the boy.
Due to his genius, he cruised through school and clinched a scholarship to Oxfordâs Double Engineering and Physics degree program. He had promising aspects for his future until he was set up for a prank he was never a part of. The prank proved to be his downfall and the beginning of the end for Max. He later found that the ploy was played out by a number of his so called friends who were bitter at the fact that Max didnât want to help them breach the school security. Disgraced with no proof against the masterminds, his family disowned him. His grandparents were no longer around to defend him nor was his Uncle Roman who has since relocated from the UK. No more prestigious diploma and with no home to go back to â Max ended up on the streets.
During a small heist of his own, Max was caught by a former mercenary named Zach. Impressed by Maxâs talents (and not necessarily Maxâs tongue and quick wit), Zach took him under his wings and giving the boy tools to tinker with and ultimately use these machines to help him in heists he was hired for. Max changed his last name from Evans to Harrison, followed Zach to terrorise London with skills to rob banks without leaving a single trace. They went on undetected until things went very wrong. Not realising that his movements were being monitored by MI5 for some time, Max and Zach were caught in a crossfire. Zach was killed during the conflict leaving Max all alone again and in huge trouble.
Desperate for help, Max begged for his Uncle Roman to be contacted. Five months later with a convoluted deal to be an informant under his belt, Max was free from prison. He chose to move away from the UK as per his uncleâs suggestion and relocated to New Orleans where no one knew him. He led a simple life as a mechanic, blending in with the community there even though his British accent was too prominent to hide. It was very hard to leave behind his thieving, thrill-seeking ways although those were kept under wraps for the most part.
NowâŠ
Ever since the revelation of the vampires just outside New Orleans, Max was more than curious to catch a glimpse of these creatures. He had always known there were other beings surrounding humans â this only confirmed his suspicions. His move to the town was to just satisfy his curiosity or maybe more.
