I ghost a lot, it's not a personal thing— my social battery just dies really quickly and it starts feeling like a chore to text or call anybody (unless you're my siblings or best friends). I do also tend to have moodswings, and make inappropriate jokes— sometimes I'll make flirty jokes but then get uncomfortable by them, it's just me.

"You ask why when you think to ask what, but I feel that it is not something that can be classified as what it should or should not be. Saying 'it' is an 'it' is an odd turn of phrase in itself. It gives it's a physical presence that does not exist. At least as I see it in my eyes."
"For there is no end to it's place or presence within our world. Is it a cadre of beings centered at the end of the universe?"
"Yes."
"Is it a force of nature that deems what should or not be?"
"Yes."
"A concept only built within our minds to give a crutch to the inevitability of reality?"
"Yes."
"It is everything and nothing. It is the absence of all and the entirely of all. We will never understand it. We will never command it. We will never know it."
"But we can hear it."
"We can listen. We can learn."
"We can serve."
"For only living to learn can we die in service to the plan."
"Dying is not meant to be casual, tossed around like it is nothing. Dying is hard. Dying is awful."
"Dying is painful."
"We are not meant to die for it or live for it. For as dying can be all those things, living is just as much. It's hard. It's awful."
"It's painful."
"But we are not here to wax upon what we are to gain from 'it' or what we are to give to 'it'. We are here to spread the true message to all. The truest and greatest gift any one could ask for."
"Peace."
"Peace IS the answer. But we must struggle. For with our struggle we search for the question."
"It is the one thing we can find within it. To stare into the abyss and find the silence. To hear the nothing. To embrace the emptiness and touch that peace all hearts yearn for. From the savage orc, to the fretful man, and even to the cursed Forsaken. In sleep. In wakefulness. In dream."
"In death."
"Peace is the answer."
"We will find it. We will bask in it. We will hear it's song and spread to all those of the silent cries in their hearts."
"We can fail. We will fail. It is inevitable."
"But we can also succeed."
"Prisoners are not only brought down by catapult and siege. They are brought down by will. By tenacity. By faith."
"We but only need to feel it. Touch it. Sit with it."
"And let it fill all worlds, times, and spaces with it's pure intent."
"Peace. Is. The. Answer."
The small gathering of souls within the basement whispered it back in a chorus of shaky tones, but none could match the croak of the ravaged crone who sat upon the dirt floor. Her pale purple skin a near deathly gray from the rot that seemed to eat away from inside, a living corpse was a optimistic assessment of Oplisca Du'mere. Bone thin hands to match with her body, a naked body covered in crdue scarification done by a mad child artist's nail, and the yellowed teeth to match those claws that were brought to bear by dried broken lips. Most would call her forsaken if not for the beating heart that nested within the wasted sagging flesh, for she was alive.
This time.
For as much as the husk withered and died, the eyes within that bald tight skull burned bright. She was here and she was everywhere now. The blonde girl of so many years ago was long since twisted into nothing and gone into the very heart of her lover. She spoke of the void as a shapeless entity and truly she believed that.
But there were others. There were always others. And there was her true love.
C'thun.
The unending gaze.
Oh how she yearned for that sight, how she fought for it. Begged for it. Sacrificed for it.
"They are ready."
Weakly, Oplisca would nod as she lifted a crooked finger. "Then let us break this fast and find what hearts need."
There were no screams or chants, only the drip of blood as the gathering worked on the 'chosen'.
Peace. Is. The. Answer.
OOC:
Welcome to the An Unending Gaze, my World of Warcraft antagonist compendium for my characters that I've been working on for some time. I made this in hopes of working on my 'villainy' and exploring the less heroic side of writing. A lot of these have been side mentions to my other groups of characters who I felt deserved their own space than just playing second fiddle to other main characters. And with the ever growing cast that hyper-fixation and likely un-diagnosed ADHD, it was honestly necessary. I do my best to explore more than just mustache twirling and vile monologuing types of villains but I can't say I'm the gold standard when it comes to doing 'bad things'. But I'm learning. And if you've got pointers, critiques, or would like to help me build my skill and these characters please let me know. I am all about collaboration and 'living to learn'.
Dramatis Personae:
Oplisca Du'mere - a servant of C'thun and disciple of the Void who has discovered a horrific means to travel to worlds beyond
The Husk - a victim of the body hopping creature of the Void
Alfred Klaudin - old dead, with dull yellow eyes and a dead heart only for the Dark Lady of his murderous dreams
Daseyd - a Dark Iron architect searching for the 'plan of plans'
Kinowin Du'mere - a malicious brother brought back by means unknown but filled by blood
Tragjaan - a Lightforged Draenei with eyes only for the Light
Voldrin - an revenant of ancient times escaped from the Shadow by the touch of the Void
The Coldbringer - an agent of Chaos, forged from bronze and touched by infinity
So I got tagged by @archaiclumina AND @ubejamjar AND @sparrowsong-7 to do this like (checks wrist) two months ago and I finally!!! Got it done!! So please enjoy, Aisling Facts!
Since this is also so late I'm not sure who was tagged and who wasn't... I'm gonna make ONE guess! @mist-touched, if you didn't get tagged before, get tagged now!
And if you're reading and haven't been tagged yet, now you are.
Basics
Name: Aisling Surrow
Nicknames: Often called “Lyn”, “Aisie”, or “little dream” by her father. Her mother will go on and on with such things as “sweet (including both ‘y’ and ‘ie’ and ‘pie’ variations), darling, sugar (and other saccharine additives), pet, dumpling (and a shelf of other baked goods), poppet, pumpkin (and a variety other vegetables), doll, baby, my girl” among others!
The core members of the Scions will casually call her “Ais” (pronounced like “Ash”), and in greeting some of the more military-mind may shout, “Hey, A!” to get her attention.
After seeing her once again in Il Mehg, Urianger said she was “a vision”, “his vision” in fact… And found himself unable to stop…
When Estinien first called her “my esk” or “my escape”, it was ironic- a way to mock what Nidhogg thought and said of her. It stopped being ironic rather quickly.
Age: 26 (ARR) 29-30 (Endwalker)
Nameday: The same day as the Seventh Umbral Calamity (And so the date is a little… fuzzy meta-wise…)
Race: Half Lalafell, Half Hyur
Gender: Female
Orientation: Bisexual, with a preference for tall.
Profession: When not the Warrior of Light, Aisling is trained in the skills of an innkeeper, and is more than capable of manning the shop for as long as she needs. These skills in business serve and are supported by the assignments and work she does for the Arcanists’ Guild.
She contracts with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn as an Adventurer, doing investigations, deliveries, escorts, and other odd jobs on Vylbrand. The Sleepy Surrow Burrow also provides discounts to any Scion who rents a room during their visits…
When the Warrior of Light- well, she does all that and saves the world!
Physical Aspects
Hair: Naturally curly and thick like her father. Unlike him, she keeps it long. She uses simple tricks of aether to dye the tips a pink similar to her eyes, and will also ‘change’ the length if she is feeling adventurous. This change is more glamor than anything else and eventually reverts back to her usual hair.
Eyes: A deep pink, and naturally fluorescent thanks to a natural quirk in her aetheric balance. Her eyes are also sensitive to light.
After the events of Shadowbringers her eyes will lose color the more heavily an area’s aethetic balance shifts towards Light. When a natural balance is restored, or she leaves the Light infected area, color will return to her eyes.
Skin: Naturally sort of ruddy, but will eventually tan if in the sun long enough. She has freckles on her face that, like her eyes, glow because of an aethertic quirk.
Tattoos/Scars: She once had scars on her fingers due to slipped hooks and botched knife cuts, but they were wiped away when she grabbed Nidhogg’s eye as it clung to an infected Estinien. While she was able to pull the eye out, she did so bare-handed, and won burn scars that now cover her palms and fingers.
A rough, gouged hole around her heart from her first bout with Zenos in Rhalhgar’s Reach. His katana nearly went through her, but a desperate barrier at the last moment protected her from being skewered.
Lines and cracks on the back of her neck that trace down her spine, from when the Light nearly burst from her body after defeating Innocence. When she asked Urianger to describe the scars afterwards, he said they were “akin to the remnants of wounds from those stricken by lightning.”
Family
Parents: Aisling’s mother is Cecelia Surrow, oldest of three, and the inheritor and keeper of the Sleepy Surrow Burrow, a long-running family business in Aleport. When she was still learning the ropes of the trade, the devilishly handsome Edvard Volf caught her eye. It took her many a year to woo him and win him, and even longer to get him to settle down into the life of a sailor and innkeeper, rather than be a pirate.
Many could describe Cecelia as overwrought, but Aisling calls her mother colorful and full of life. She’s a loquacious, eager, and overly earnest woman always looking for an opportunity to do or experience something interesting. While she’s quick to seek a deal and haggles vociferously, she has a keen sense of fairness that cannot be denied. She, like her daughter, has expensive taste- much to the chagrin of her husband.
Edvard took his wife’s name when they married because Cecelia had the legacy to steward- he didn’t mind. At the time, he was not someone concerned with planning for the future or what his last name was on some legal ledger. He is an intense and silent man, saying little, and oftentimes what he says sounds more… sinister than he intends. Much of his language is still mired in his old pirate career. It’s not that he has bad intentions- only that the life is hard to leave behind. He deeply loves his family and what they have in Aleport, and in the new lens of domesticity his intensity and silence can come off as dreamy and thoughtful; a nature he shares with his daughter.
Siblings: Aisling is an only child. “Though not for lack of trying!” her mother often bemoaned when Aisling was in her teens.
Grandparents: Edvard’s parents are not in the picture anymore, a fact he doesn’t often speak about to anyone outside his family. Cecelia’s parents are alive and have retired to Costa Del Sol, living out their twilight years in the sun and surf.
In-laws and Other: Two uncles and one aunt on her mother’s side- no known aunts or uncles on her father’s side.
After developing a relationship with Estinien, she can’t help but consider all dragons her family and in-laws, in a sense. She often thinks of Midgardsormer as a grandfather- and will call him so to his face quite boldly. He… doesn’t seem to mind it?
Pets: Her trusty carbuncle, Carby, who began its life as a mote of light she practiced summoning as a child. Since then, she has developed its form and concept, each iteration still her delightful Carby.
The Sleepy Surrow Burrow has two main mousers (that is, cats that live and work within the inn catching vermin). Arturio is a luxurious ragdoll with one eye; which he lost when he picked a fight with a giant rat on his own. It was after this incident that they adopted their next mouser- a raggedy tabby kitten named Anne. While the start was rough, Anne and Arturio are now thick as thieves… which makes sense, as they love to find ways to steal treats and fresh cream from the larder.
The Sleepy Surrow Burrow also has a small colony of cats that live around it, taking advantage of the many customers, the many pests, and the too-giving nature of Cecelia and Aisling. They just can’t help leaving out some scraps for the poor, sweet things. There are many cats in the colony, including a cat with one ear named after the Gridanian painter, Vangaux.
Skills
Abilities: Aisling is a capable sailor, fisher, and navigator- readily able to hop aboard any vessel and serve as a rigger, midshipwoman, or surgeon. She is also a whiz at math- quickly able to make complex calculations and estimates in her head, which serves her well when figuring out headings and trajectories. It also helps in her work as an Arcanist- the balances and formulae necessary for the job are no sweat for her.
She has also always been talented in minor aetherical manipulation. Briefly changing the color of something, the size or shape- small illusions that return to normal not too long after- summoning motes of spirit and light, little drawings made real. Her sense serves her well in any job that requires she deeply connect to aether, its balance, and cast spells and magic.
Aisling is the frequent haver of visions and dreams, and while she has not considered such a thing a ‘skill’ as much, her visions have come to be things to decipher, things that guide her decision making. Interpreting them is a skill in itself...
Hobbies: When not engaged in the equally important businesses of innkeeping and world saving, Aisling takes joy in a variety of hobbies. These include reading stories and myths (adventure, tragedy, and romance stand amongst her favorites), cooking up new and old dishes, singing and dancing with her mother and father and friends, fishing off Brewer’s Beacon (her favorite spot), playing various games of chance and skill (including poker, tarot, various dice games, blackjack, and Triple Triad), and wandering through Eorzea to find places to be and things to do.
Traits
Most Positive Trait: A deep and abiding curiosity for people and the world. She is always eager to listen and observe, and finds it easy to find a niche and make a home anywhere.
Most Negative Trait: A kind of apathy- because of her dreams and visions, things can feel inevitable to her… and sometimes she can treat them that way, which can bring a lack of empathy.
Likes
Colors: Purple, pinks, and blues- preferably pastels.
Smells: The salt spray. Fresh canvas sails. Bread proofing and in the oven. Rosemary and myrrh. Lavender and spice.
Textures: Cold, glinting jewels. Smooth, sun-kissed wood. Hempen rope. Clean cotton sheets. Soft grass to lay on.
Smokes: Sometimes Aisling will share a pipe with her father, though it’s not often.
Drinks: Aisling isn’t shy around alcohol and is happy to be part of the party- she even has expensive taste when it comes to her wines and brandy…
Drugs: She’s got that Primal dank, man. She’s got that shit that causes Rejoinings. It’ll make you nine thirteenths of a soul, motherfucker.
Mount Issuance: Aisiling has a proper certification for her Company Chocobo, affectionately named Omelette- as for the rest of the creatures and contraptions she rides… Gods only know how she got THEM…
Been Arrested: If you don’t count her brief imprisonments as part of her Warrior of Light journey, Aisling has never been arrested! Though as a wandering child in Limsa Lominsa, she did often get scolded by Maelstrom soldiers who found her where she shouldn’t be.
Coren forced himself to smile as he watched them fade beyond his sight and into the great Astral Sea. He would miss his wayward charge and the misadventures he had gotten himself into, the watcher felt he would miss even more so the offspring he had sworn to protect. The sunshine girl warmed his heart especially. But the time of mourning and being sad was long past or perhaps was yet to be, time was a fickle thing for him.
Time was never linear for those of the dragonflight, that was the hardest lesson to learn. A dark skinned hand would come to stroke at a feathered beard of his current visage, the same wayward eyes of emerald green searching the bluffs of Mulgore under a blue sky. Sand and sun were what his liege craved, but for a creature such as him change was what he craved. Always something different.
The same dark skinned hand would softly turn and thrust as sprig of power was used to summon a shifting orb. Coren's eyes would delve into those swirling sands, a soft delight rumbling in this chest at the idea of 'pondering his orb'. Least that's what he supposed was the way the people were these days.
These days.
How long had he been here? Or been this way? Was he a man? A dragon? A god? No. Coren was just Coren. A servant of the Bronze Dragonflight, a guardian of chosen, and a wanderer of the multiverse. The Word had spoken and here he was. Nothing more. Nothing less.
There was nothing to question.
His chosen was free now. Free of the cycle by their choice and his joy at the final gate passed just like his sorrow. Fleeting. Warm. Accepted.
It was time to find another. Or more. Or less. The Word would will as much as the sands shifting within the glass.
A burning ship. A broken son. A broken grin. A burning fury.
Familiar traits, familiar story, and one that could be focused if properly propelled. He'd done it once.
Why not again?
"Take me," a soft baritone slipped among peace.
A blue sky stretched far and wide carrying lazy white clouds and the wisp of hot breath mingled with dimming grains.
OOC:
Of Bronze and Sage is a roleplaying and writing repository for characters and stories of the Horde within the World of Warcraft. It is the third sister blog to a the Trio of blogs put together for a wide range of different concepts and ideas to be put together for. I've focused a lot on the Alliance side of things I felt like I'd been kind of ignoring the red side of things and pigeon holed a lot of the peoples as 'bad guys' in those writings. The Horde is as intriguing and varied as any monster hunting family with as many heroes as they have villains. The idea is to stretch those wings and learn more about this side of the world as well as interact with players/characters I haven't gotten a chance to really mingle with. So as before, if you'd like to interact, instruct, guide, or just say 'Hey!' to a bunch of green folks I'd love to collaborate.
Below you will find links to the basic information of the cast of characters for this blog. It's not as big as my Alliance brain is, but it's growing the more I look at building a proper group of old and new faces.
Dramatis Personae
Sevlaz - a misplaced orc thief brought out of the bowels of certain death to serve the Sands
Fenrag Onehand - the broken orc blademaster reforged as a new sword for the Horde only to search for a higher calling within the teachings of the Mist
Cahall Raincaller - a tauren disgraced, exiled, and alone the former Raincaller chieftain wanders Kalimdor wallowing in his failures to his lost tribe
Erik'red - a desert speaker and vagabond vulpera who is just as likely to win you with a smile as with their cooking
Qinhou - companion to Fenrag and fellow student of the Ways, though far more interested in helping the dead than the living
Mary Wincott - the fresh dead murdered by the Black Rainbow, untethered from her twin sister and reeling with psychic energies
Coren - Guardian of the Bronze Flight, traveler, former steward of the Candells, servant of the Word
A solution / digital world, conceptualized after years spent in pursuit of peace and perfection.
It signifies the decision made by humanity to abandon the material, corporal realm.
However, the dream of idyllic peace wasn’t to last forever, as the scourge of “Records Corruption” reared its ugly head and to this day continues to bring suffering to the city and its people.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
City of Elysium is in the world of Elysium. (New York, New York situation).
It is revealed that a lot of people die in Elysium every single day.
Seems to have been created by a being named Omegaα.
Residents aren’t aware of living in a digital world.
Fun Fact: in Greek mythology Elysium is the final resting place for the souls of heros.
ADVENTURER'S GUILD TEMPUS
The most popular pub in the downtown area, which became synonymous with the guild after TEMPUS was formed there and members of the guild began to assemble.
The name symbolizes a turning point in the founding members’ lives, as they look to resist the status quo and seek to change the world as adventurers.
XENOKUNI
The land of craftsmen to the east of Utopia, governed by a local committee, it is also known as the land of righteousness.
Similar to TEMPUS’ home base, it was also once promised peace and stability, but frequent Records Corruption has firmly placed it in a long-running cycle of destruction and creation. This made the residents of the land gain sentience, and has led to many of them questioning the validity of “Utopia.”
THE BADLANDS
Note: At the moment, there’s no official page from the official website regarding this location.
From promotional material, the BadLands reside in a desert terrain.
ELYSIUM ACADEMY
An academy for talented genius students in Elysium.
HOLLOW TREE (WORLD TREE)
Located in the center of the world Elysium.
The city of Elysium is to the West of the HoloTree.
There are lights that glow and lead to the center of the world of Elysium (the HoloTree).
Description from Josuiji Shinri: “You know how lasers shine through the fiber optic cables they kinda go along the cable. There’s like a little pulse of light that just kinda flies through almost all the main connecting things that lead all towards the HoloTree.”
Tree referenced to a battery pack.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
In the timeline of Church of Rune it is said that the HoloTree had been corrupted a year ago.
CANIS MINOR TRAIN
The residence or “home” of the “Observer” who calls themself “X”.
The train has some sort of connection with the HoloTree.
Visitors, although uncommon, are brought there by the HoloTree.
The place is said to be essentially a sea of souls.
The train seems to not be stationary as the Observer mentions needing to make multiple stops.
RUNE MONASTERY
Resides in the future of what used to be of Elysium.
The head priest or leader of the monastery is Father Machina (god’s messenger).
It is a place offering shelter for those who suffer from the corruption and for those who disagree with the guild.
The goal of the monastery is to spread the Afflicted (corruption beasts) everywhere.
Followers must love/worship god’s messenger. Those who oppose the church or attempt to study/kill the Afflicted will be put to death.
The god of Rune monastery is a “young man… a theme of flowers” believed to be Miyabi (HoloStars JP).

27th day of the 8th month, Summer of Year 6
The world changed again.
Dalaran has fallen. Again.
Is it really surprising? I'm not sure. I would like to rely on old prejudices against the magi, that they keep to their towers and secrets like rats in a hold but that would be a lie. The Kirin Tor had truly been nothing but doing their best to be guardians of the world as much as we are to Drustvar. But we can't rely on old prejudices and old ways of thinking. Have to keep moving forward and we have to adjust.
I have to adjust.
As we had done before during the Shadowlands, House Waycrest and my superiors have authorized me to allow my team to go to the aid of Dalaran in hopes of creating a better relationship and positive atmosphere between our communities. I am still rolling my eyes at that statement from Albot. I know what he really wants. Clout. Power.
Gold.
I'm glad that Candell is such good friends with Reese, cause I don't know we could continue to afford to rent this place in the Pig and Whistle with the meager funds that Drustvar can spare to us. Rebuilding a country isn't easy or cheap but you'd think they could afford to give us a little something more to make us appear to be at least respectable. Hell Duun's been moonlighting as practically a guard around here to make her ends meet. Honestly I think she makes more clearing kobolds and other things down there than she does as my assistant. I feel bad for her, this was not what she was expecting when we came here four years ago. But granted I didn't expect to lose Candell on some weird 'death' campaign into another world. And Nubern. I can't forgive myself for that man. No one should. Least of all me, though I know Eld has been eating it up as well.
I shouldn't call the Shadowlands weird considering what we do here and what we have faced in the past, but the whole debacle is just strange. Thinking about it just makes my head hurt as much. Might be the rum as well.
We have dragons. I don't know a damn thing about dragons, except how to possibly kill them and that for once is the last helpful thing around here. Maybe we should set up a meeting some of their people. They could know some tricks or ideas or have some gold to help the Order out. I'll have to make a note for later.
The circle comes round again to the big news of this entry. Dalaran. Another tragedy in the world's history. I don't know if we're gonna make it better, but I do know that Candell is hardly going to be one to sit around while there's something going on to the west. He never does. His apprentice or rather partner now is just the same. I wasn't supposed to babysit heroes, just soldiers. I guess they die all the same as well.
I miss you Cristoph. Every day. Your heart is mine, and I hope you know mine is yours. It just hurts.
Candell says it's like a war within. He should know especially with his history. Tides all of us do.
I love you.

OOC:
This is blog for characters created within the realm of World of Warcraft involving generally the protagonist/hero concept that has a lot to do with the Order of Embers from the Battle for Azeroth. I had cultivated a lot of these characters for a long time on an alternate blog, but since returning to the game and with a new expansion arriving it felt right to build a new and better place to continue to work on this concept. I love all of them even if I get lost some times trying to keep them going creatively and in gameplay. So please if you'd like to interact, collaborate, offer words of support/critique, or just say 'hey'; don't hesitate too. Thanks for reading this and I hope I make something you come to enjoy here.
Below you will find links to the basic information of the cast of characters for this blog (which knowing my level of alt-aholism, will be ever growing cast).
Dramatis Personae
Eldridge Candell - Inquisitor of the Order of Embers
Cheryl Duun - Inquisitor of the Order of Embers; Ratcatcher
Rachel Dewitt - Operations Manager of the Order of Embers
Beldwin Storm - Gallant of Drustvar; The Green Son
Tan'tilton - Journeyman Inquisitor of Order of Embers
