MAXINE RUTHERFORD;
16. Junior. Cheerio. Taken. Hello! I guess I should say some cute little catchphrases and whatnot but that's useless. Full name is above but I'm good with Max or even Maxi. Currently living in Lima and going to McKinley. Anything else, you can ask me about it!
I’m late, as usual, to the news of the closing and I’m super sad to see this outcome. It was fun roleplaying with you all. Maybe we’ll cross paths again but if not, please know that none of your portrayals bothered me and I wish you all the luck in your future rp endeavors. ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
So after going back and forth about this for a bit now, we’ve come to the conclusion that The Kids Aren’t Alright has reached the end of it’s time. Honestly, with all the heavy storylines going on I just can’t handle the constantly negative atmosphere and, unfortunately, even admins have their breaking points. I’ve tried to keep my head down and continue on, considering I do love the group very much and appreciate all the members it has/had, but I cannot force myself to stay in an environment that effects me so negatively - especially when I’m, sadly, not the only person who feels this way. I take roleplaying very lightly and see it as a way to have fun, and lately it hasn’t felt as fun for me. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a great time writing with you all and building various connections and storylines, but I think this is for the best. While I’m, of course, okay with people breaking off into 1x1s and whatnot, I do ask that the group is not recreated. We hope you understand our decision, as it wasn’t an easy one to make, and I hope that our roleplaying paths cross again in the near future. Best of luck to all of you. ♡
I love how it’s apparently my fault that people don’t know what’s in their favorite coffee drink. If you don’t ask for skim milk, why would I put skim milk in there? “This tastes like diabetes.” Well yeah, there’s seventeen pumps of straight up corn syrup in there. The moral of this story, kiddos, is only ask for things in your coffee that you want to be in there. And if you’re a kind soul, come visit me at work because nine times out of ten I’m dying inside.
You know how people can act. Everything and everyone else is at fault for their incompetence.
With the premiere tomorrow, I just wanted to let everyone know how proud I am. You’ve all done amazing jobs so far and I hope you continue to do your very best throughout the next couple of days. I’m hoping to see the rest of you in the audience.
On Saturday the 29th, Lima Community Theater and I would like to invite anyone involved with the making of Heather: The Musical to dinner at Breadstix at 7. You’re welcome.
Do I get an invite for sitting in the audience about a musical I know nothing about but want to support my friends?
The fact they are releasing a ‘Hey Arnold’ movie is pretty exciting because of where they left off with us knowing nothing about where his parents are and now that I am older I can actually follow more in depth about situations in the show as well as jokes, if there are any. Now if that doesn’t bring back your childhood I don’t know what else will.
Food from my childhood but it was nice to see the trailer for the movie. I’m kind of excited for it.
OKAY SO This is my apology towards @lenanotluthorfabray @raeraeberry for screaming at the top of my lungs while I was watching the Marvel Panels tonight, but Im not really sorry because you guys have been warned since the trailer has dropped for both Thor and Black Panther. Also I am sorry that I screamed when my bae MBJ came out on that stage, but then again Im not sorry. ALSO, Im pretty pumped for Infinity Wars and if anyone wants to be my date to all three movies, you have to start impressing me now or Im going to go to those movies by myself.
I only understood the Black Panther reference cause you know, it’s the only thing Marvel is releasing that I’m caring about any time soon.
Quick question, have you ever heard something or similar variations so many times that you basically know that it’s coming from a mile away? If so, what’s the phrase? If not, what do you think the phrase would be? For this nerd, it’s ‘Stop being a workaholic and start being a normal teenager.’
What exactly does one mean when they say be a normal teenager? That’s what you should hit them with next time and see how they act.
Maxine: was just finishing off the dinner that Mike had surprised her with tonight. She hadn't been expecting it as she thought she was going to be the only one with a surprise this evening. But Maxine couldn't say she minded it at all. For one, she absolutely loved it when Mike cooked for her. Secondly, it took the pressure off her to tell him about them expecting. But now, as she was finishing off the dessert he had made, there was nowhere to hide basically. It was time to share the news but the nerves was getting to her. All the what if's and scenarios of this turning bad flashed in her eyes but she calmed herself down. "Thank you for tonight, baby," she told Mike as she looked at him. "But I have a surprise of my own. You have to close your eyes and don't peek until I say so though."
location: apartment in lima & walmart (or wtfever lima would have)
summary: maxine goes shopping for plans later on in the day she has for mike.
Waking up after last night was sort of awkward for Maxine. Her and Mike had had a good night but she had felt sort of disconnected because she still hadn’t told him the news yet.
But she wanted to make it special.
She wanted him to find out in a way that was cheesy and dorky like she saw all the time when people announced they were pregnant to their husbands. Plus, she just felt like he deserved a nice night. He had planned so many for her. It was time to do the same.
Getting ready to head out, Maxine tossed on a simple dress and put her hair up in a lazy ponytail. She found her purse, phone and glasses and locked up the apartment before heading to a place she knew would have everything she needed. Pulling up to the place, it seemed like it was full of people like always but Maxine was in no rush.
Maxine got a cart and headed to the baby section of the store. She took in the sheer amount of different strollers and car seats and clothing and bottles and all the other little things that babies needed. This would be her life months from now and Maxine would be in this section trying to decide on which bottle or car seat or breast pump or diaper bag to pick. She was kind of in awe but slightly overwhelmed. She would definitely need to talk to a few of her friends about these kinds of things. But right now, she just needed something that had a reference to ‘daddy’ and other little things for how she’d tell Mike he’s about to become a father.
Getting one of the last things she needed, Maxine turned to go back to her cart but not before feeling a child bump into her. He sort of looked up at her and there was a terrified look on his face. A mother came rushing up and started to apologize.
“It’s fine. It’s fine. I promise. No one was hurt,” she told the other woman, who seemed to be pulling her son by her side and Maxine got a good look at her. She had a bump. One of the thoughts in her head was wondering if she’d get that big herself. Not that the other woman was abnormally big or anything but she’d seen other bumps over the years and it made her wonder how her bump would turn out.
“When are you due?,” Maxine found herself asking. “Two months from now. Are you pregnant?”
Maxine knew that she probably shouldn’t tell a lie in this moment but she wanted Mike to be the first one who found out. Not a random stranger in a store, even if she looked like she was sweet. “No, just shopping for a baby shower. I swear I seem to go to one every week nowadays, it seems. But no, I’m not. I would like to be though. One day,” Max lied before smiling. “You take care of yourself and good luck with everything,” she told the little boy before turning to the other woman with a smile before heading off into another direction. She still had other things to get.
Once Max was satisfied that she had gotten everything she needed for Mike’s surprise, she went to the register. Getting the bags together, she walked to her car with a smile on her face, thinking of what tonight would bring when she told Mike of the news.
summary: maxine finds out some life-altering news.
As Maxine begun her night at Scandals, she thought about how amazing this all was. She hadn’t seen some of these people since she had walked across the stage and headed out to California for school. It was nice being back. Even if it was a wedding that brought them back and not a reunion. But tonight was all about drinking, relaxing, having fun and catching up with the other.
Walking into the bar, Maxine scrunched up her nose. Was everything supposed to be offending to her sense of smell right now? Cause it most certainly was. She swears she could smell the stale peanuts that were at the bar from the front door. She sniffed in some air and brought her hands up to rub her nose. Maybe it was just cause she hadn’t been in a bar since her undergrad days.
Spotting some people she knew, Max went to go sit with them. They ordered drinks and Max put in what she wanted. She hadn’t been to Scandals in years and it seemed like the place was going to be fun tonight. If only, she could get into it. Right now, she wasn’t. Her body was here but her mind just was not focused. As evident by the fact that someone said something to her and she had to shake her head, chuckle a little and ask them to repeat themselves before she answered.
When the drinks got there, Max picked hers up and took a sip. It was awful, if she was being truthful. But she thought maybe it was because she hadn’t had a drink in a while. At least not this type. She took another sip before seeing someone get up to sing. Oh, this should be fun. As they get half way through the song, Max lets out a breath to try to get rid of the queasiness she suddenly feels. It works, until she takes another sip of her drink, and finds herself rushing to the bathroom.
Emptying what felt like a week’s worth of her life into that toilet felt oddly satisfying and yet, alarming. She had never thrown up that much in her life. And because of drinks? She tried to recall the last time she had ate and it was right before she came out so it wasn’t like she was drinking on an empty stomach. Maxine walked out of the stall and went to the sink. She splashed her face and rinsed out her mouth before getting nauseous again and running back into the stall to throw up again. After she was done, she leaned against the wall and took small breathes. What the fuck was the matter with her? Was it food poisoning? There was another option but she had had her period just last month. She wasn’t displaying any signs. But even Max knew that all the signs don’t have to happen for her to be it.
She stepped out of the stall and washed her hands and cleaned herself up again. If she was, she wanted to know. There had to be a store in Lima open this time at night to get her a test, right? Maxine walked over to the table she was at, told them that she wasn’t feeling well and going back home for the night. They were shocked but they understood.
Getting in her car, Max sought out to go to a drug store to get several tests. Cause one wasn’t enough. She spotted a CVS that was opened and went to the section she knew would have the tests. Seeing all the options, she thought about which ones to do. Tests had evolved since the last time she saw them. So many ways to find out. But she stuck to the simple ones, grabbed some water and juices to drink on the way and went to the register. The cashier paused when she saw the tests but Maxine shrugged her shoulders. After ringing it up, the woman told her good luck and she smiled before leaving. God, when did tests become so damn expensive, she thought as she looked over her receipt.
Getting back home, or at least home for this trip, Maxine went to the bathroom and dumped the tests on the counter. While she felt she knew what the tests would show, she still carefully read the instructions before opening them all. She began with the first test before placing it on the counter when she was finished. She got another one and continued until all of them were finished. She’d know in about 2 minutes but this time gave Max time to think about this.
Was Mike and her ready for kids? They had just gotten married no less than 2 years ago. They both were super busy with their careers. What if it was the wrong time to have a kid? What would happen? Max always knew she wanted kids, she expected kids by now but was now the time? What if she wasn’t a good mother? What if the baby didn’t love her? What if the pregnancy was difficult? Hell, what if she died after giving birth? There just was too many thoughts swirling in her head for her to not have even known if she was even pregnant to begin with.
Getting up from where she was, Maxine lined the tests up before picking up one. She flipped it over and noticed the results.
