More derg wips. Old character of mine getting a revamp (again). Been finding a new lease on life for some of my older OCs it seems. This is Syrr'dynn, and they're kind of an idiot who enjoys shenanigans and nachos.
Calling Leonard done. I really like how he came out. Like...really like him. I'm just...happy with him. After some advice from a friend, the patina turned out really nice. And his fuzz looks so soft. If you wanna read his full write up, I'll put it under a cut. And if you read all his notes, you got a lot of patience lol.

Shiny coppers with patina (patina ranging from aqua to blue to purple, amount can range from none to nearly his whole body depending on his jumps)

Personality
Introverted in general, he mostly keeps to himself and his interests, which generally involves things like bugs and plants. You get him going tho on something he enjoys, and he doesn't have a mute button. His introvertedness is most often a boon to him, as with all of his jumping, he can’t really make any long-term friendships. This can make him seem incredibly aloof when meeting people, altho that doesn’t mean he can’t care about situations happening.
He’s been jumping for a very long time, and doesn’t even remember where he originally came from. Over time, he’s had to delete memories to make room for new ones, and so most often his oldest ones go first. At this point, even if he wound back up in the universe he started in, he wouldn’t know it. The only thing he still has from over the years, is his books. This means he has no real personal history or ties to anything, and so his only identity is to himself and his books. Unable to settle for long in any one dimension, he’s unsure if it’s a feature or a bug in his programming that keeps him on the move.
His patience is surprisingly long, and rarely minds things poking and proding at him. He tends to act like a draft horse, and it takes a lot before something starts to bother him. Messing up his foof too much, tho, is a fast track to him putting up boundaries. While he does not get violent, he will forcibly protect his boundaries once they’re up.
He can also get easily distracted by bright colors, altho bright lights are more of a turn off despite his buggish look, minus the sunshine. A nice bright sunny day often leads to him taking a long lounge in the sunshine.
He has learned that every dimension, somewhere, somehow, has a Waffle House. And he always finds them one way or another. He loves their waffles.
He enjoys some slightly odd musical style choices, specifically chill/synthwave, melodic death metal, and symphonic metal. He finds them generally relaxing to listen to.
He prefers avoiding fights, and will try to use his large size to intimidate more than anything to keep a fight from starting. While not easy to push around, his passive nature makes him more inclined to walk away from a situation than engage, unless he’s on bodyguard duty for someone. When pushed into a fight, his size and strength are his weapons, along with his thickly-armored body. He has no actual built-in weapons, but rather his plated fists with claws on the end, along with his sharp horn. Certain high-energy fuels can give his engine a massive boost to output, and his body will become scorching hot while burning it, as well as increase his strength to match an actual beetle’s. Although not a true berserker, this state does make him unpredictable, and one should not approach him until he’s had time to calm down.

Built in the style of an anthropomorphized beetle, with a Hercules Beetle being the main inspiration, Leonard was made to be adaptable to multiple different kinds of environments with both his machine learning and varied engine systems. His thick armor makes him durable, and his nanomachines infused into his systems allow for repairs as well as minute adjustments to his own structures and composition to adapt to inhospitable environments.
The quantumtrans drive core that allows the traversing of dimensions draws in energy from the fabric between worlds. Depending on how thick it is, sometimes it can take longer to recharge after changing between dimensions. He can possibly speed up the recharge by taking in more physical fuel, but this puts a stress on his systems, so he only tends to do it if it's an emergency. Whenever he does jump, it builds up a patina on his body. This does eventually clear up over time as his systems repair it, but if he jumps again too quickly, the patina builds up faster. One can judge how recently he did a jump or how many times in a row he jumped by how much patina has built up on his body. Lots of patina is rough on his systems, and he often needs to go take a nap for a while, or stumble into a Waffle House for a big meal. Because he (obviously) tends to not have the currency of the worlds he visits, he often runs out on checks. A few months to half a year is probably the longest he’s stayed in one dimension. Shortest, however, was one day, when he found himself in a terrible place and needed to leave quickly, and almost overworked his systems trying to fuel the drive back up so quickly, and was nearly completely covered in patina as a result.
The rest of his normal systems are powered by a multi-intake drive system that can use a variety of things for fuel, tho some things are more efficient than others. This includes expected things like gasoline, diesel, and ethanol; but also other odd choices such as organic matter and radioactive materials. For him, fuel is fuel, tho some give him indigestion, especially organic stuff, even with the grinders and saws in his mouth to help shred it up.
While he has folded up wings under the shell on his back, they don’t really provide flight themselves, but rather are used for stabilizing while in flight via the thrusters on his back, the back of his legs, and bottom of his feet. The wings are a synthetic mesh, and have full movement, which allows him to be surprisingly agile in the air.
He has two sets of arms, altho most don’t realize it at first since the second smaller pair are often folded up against his chest. The larger set is where the majority of his strength lies, as well as some of his thickest armor. They are not, however, dexterous at all, and so the smaller set instead is used for more delicate matters. Two fingers and two thumbs adorn each of the smaller arms, which also has an added arm joint, allowing them to reach rather far. Their flexibility is how he’s able to handle anything gently, including bugs, writing, drawing, and holding hands.
Has the typical multiple sensors of robots, including seeing into IR and UV range, but also can see down to macroscopic levels easily (for spotting bugs better). Also has sensors for detecting how thick the barrier between dimensions are and how tough it'll be to get out (getting in is always the easier part).
He has a few books full of bug drawings he's done over the years, with lots of additions, taped in pages, and random pieces of paper shoved in. Since he's able to draw very small, this allows him to maximize the room he has. And if someone shows a hint of interest in seeing it, they will get the entire tour of the books, descriptions and all. The storage compartments in his arms is where he keeps them stored.

Calling Alronzo and Solrax done so I can stop messing with it lol. I'll probably make an actual ref sheet at some point for em, since Alronzo isn't quite a typical Mursaat (he's glideless thanks to his wings being forcibly removed, amongst other things). I also have a ton of my own headcanons for Mursaat too, since a lot doesn't really get elaborated on in the game on details about the race really.
Anyways, Alronzo is an Evoker, but his spirit that's summoned is a fiery void demon dragon he made a deal with to help him escape his prison (and help him deal with the loss of his wings). When Alronzo is using a glamour to look human, Solrax takes on the form of a funky fox as well.
Yes, Alronzo learned to cook because of the dragon, but discovered he actually does enjoy cooking and will happily cook for his friends.
He also gives great hugs with those beefy arms.
Small wip of a scale chart thingie of some of my world building. Tree will be posted later when I finish the sheet it's on (it has a massive write up). But this includes my main characters for now, with Tempest (the mech), Kim Ryder (the human), and Zzar'koth (the primordial dragon), as well as a couple of the false-dragon breeds (Cavalier and Fire-throated).
Finally got around to make a second homestead after my halloween jp one (which will get updated to be longer next halloween I think). Anyways, had fun with it, and gave Alronzo a decent place to relax in. I'm a sucker for Canthan stuff, wish there was more of it.
Oh forgot to post that the sketching was done and I started lining Leonard. Whoops. Was thinking about the Leveler from Fern Gully when designing his chompers. Good ol bug-inspired robo, trying to keep design semi-simple, with big shapes. Not sure I succeeded lol.
He's meant to be a robot with bug traits, not a bug robot. He has features inspired by insects (specifically various beetles most of all), but he's obviously not meant to be an insct himself. I dunno if I'm making any sense here.
Got the flats down I think. Dunno how shading gunna go on Solrax tho. Alronzo shouldn't be bad tho. And yes, Alronzo's armor does have that much gradient on it in game. I love it lol.
And yes, I hc that this isn't Orrax, but a similar creature that's more fire-based. Probably Orrax's long lost cousin lol. Alronzo evoking him probably like "I have no fucking idea either."
