To the 1899 family,

As you may have heard, Netflix has decided not to renew 1899 for a second and third season at this time. The situation has hit all of us hard, from brand-new fans of Bo and Jantje, to fans who have experienced their work from Dark and beyond. Although 75,000 people have lent their voice petitioning Netflix to renew the show, the future of 1899 remains uncertain.

To show our support, we would like to bring the wonderful and immensely talented 1899 community together to combine all of our positive energy, love, and support for Bo, Jantje, and the cast and crew of 1899 into a fan book filled with letters, art, and other memories from the past years, which we plan to deliver to them in person.

The book will be printed in A3 size, and we will be accepting the following fan-made submissions: letters to Bo and Jantje, 1899 and Dark artworks, videos, all of which will be digitally compiled by our team.

We will be accepting submissions for the fan book via email starting now until March 1, 2023, 8pm CET. Please send your submissions to [email protected], alongside the following information: name that you would like to be credited as, country, and social media handle (optional).

Remember: everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.

it's kind of a shame when people only want to talk about cooper in terms of what silly goofy guy he is and not his actual role in the narrative or his flaws. so i'm gonna do that 👍

i think there's an intentionally uncomfortable sort of dissonance in how happily he talks about what a nice town twin peaks is, his excitement over the douglas firs and the diner pie, how kind and welcoming he thinks the people there are. the woods laura was murdered in, the town that killed her, the people who participated and were complicit in her abuse, all of it is just sort of pleasant to him. optimism can be a strength, but i think his often crosses into a naivëte, a willful ignorance and refusal to face the gravity of the situation head-on. he clearly takes his job seriously, and he wants to solve the murder, but there's something in him incapable of really getting at the core of the problem. he thinks of what leland did to laura as something literally unthinkable, something harder to believe than the supernatural. albert is portrayed as cynical, but he is correct. he understands that BOB is just "the evil that men do", where cooper doesn't want to. cooper's idealized view of and blind faith in the role of the family (and especially the father) as inherently Good, means he doesn't even consider leland a proper suspect until it's far too late. and this ignorance is something that gets people killed. first laura, then maddy. and however indirectly it may be, cooper is partially responsible for that! every character in twin peaks turns a blind eye to what went on in their town, but i think cooper is the character who represents this the most clearly in a thematic sense. his entire role in fire walk with me, and in laura's life, is literally just Guy Who Was Too Late (and again, albert gets it in a way that's almost too on the nose, with his response to cooper's vision of laura as the next victim being "you're talking about half the high school girls in america". laura's death was not an unpreventable and unique tragedy, it's a systemic problem.) and in the case of maddy, well. cooper was there. he could have stopped it. but he was still too late. because he didn't want to see

its just insane to me that you can watch the entirety of twin peaks and come to the conclusion that audrey and dale should've been together. this show is about how dangerous it is for men to think that they are entitled to women and will place romantic/sexual relationships above all else. leland kills laura because he thinks he has ownership over her as both a father and lover. leo controls shelly because he sees no value in her beyond being a servant to him. audrey's own father does not pay a shred of attention towards her because he cannot love her like he loved laura. dale is the only man who has ever treated audrey with respect and he knows it. audrey conflates his care with romantic affection, and whilst she is genuinely in love with him, it's misguided because she has never had anyone, especially a man, be so considerate towards her. dale is the figure all these women so desperately needed in their lives, a man who cared for, understood, and respected them. he never put his personal wants above what audrey truly needed: a friend and guardian.

I WANT TO LOCK SOME PEOPLE IN A ROOM AND FORCE THEM TO WATCH DARK AND 1899 BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE TWO BEST SHOWS ON NETFLIX AT THE MOMENT BUT PEOPLE SLEEP ON THEM CAUSE ONE IS ENTIRELY IN GERMAN AND THE OTHER IS A MIX OF MULTIPLE LANGUAGES. BUT THE CINEMATOGRAPHY IS JUST INCREDIBLE. THE STORIES ARE SO COMPLEX AND INTRICATE BUT IT ALL MAKES SENSE AT THE END WITHOUT LOOPHOLES (AS FAR AS I AM AWARE). CHARACTERS ARE MULTIFACETED. AND IT'S THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF DRAMA - THRILLER - SCI FI - HORROR.

every time i watch the courtyard scene from episode 3 i'm like okay haha we laugh but it's just not possible that it wouldn't have occurred to Lestat in the slightest that this sort of arrangement would be reciprocal i.e. Louis will be entertaining other dicks that do not belong to Lestat but then i see his face and
