I hc that Staticdoll has entire conversations on their own frequency even when Val is standing right there being just so fucking confused!
anon I LOVE the way you think + you're so right. I do love the hc of radiostatic communicating through radio waves, but it is so important to me that we remember that Velvette is almost certainly also capable of this (I mean, she canonically uses magic livestreams in the show, not once but twice). I very much see all three of them as equally significant iterations of the same little techno-infernal communications legacy.
and tbh there is something so special about Vox finding another person who can engage with him in this way after however many decades of being convinced he somehow wrecked his relationship with his soulmate because Alastor was the only person who could connect with or even comprehend this sixth sense. I can only imagine Val losing his mind the first time he clocks what's happening because oh my god??? Vox really just found Alastor 2.0 and in that case what the hell does he need Val for (obviously he chills out, but initially it was!! kind of a jump scare!!) these days he will still snark at them about it and absolutely throw a fit if he feels left out, but he also thinks it's cute how close his two favorite people are + appreciates that it helps them take care of each other, so. fine. he will accept it.
and they are communicating this way all the time. it's probably half the reason they read as so effortlessly in tune with each other (the other half is that they are just that similar). they'll hold conversations from opposite ends of the tower but also sometimes in the same room, just kind of sending out vibes to each without even realizing they're doing it. little 'are you okay' signals and distress calls during tense situations and sometimes even normal ones when they're alone at home and could talk normally because it just feels so much safer than verbally admitting to vulnerability. both of them sometimes broadcasting emotional responses without meaning to so they have a mutually terrifying level of insight into each other at all times that they simply do not acknowledge or talk about under any circumstances (while nonetheless still very much taking cues from it). vox being an obnoxious bitch who will zap away from her at a moments notice but keeps his signal active so she knows exactly where he's gone. they're just so made for each other really it kills me
