Where are Prince Eric’s parents??? Did they not have any issues with his shenanigans? Bring home a mute girl? Sure son. Meet a girl and decide to marry her the same day? Go ahead. What kind of parents are these?

And if they are dead, WHY hasn’t he been coronated yet?

This is another one that is really quite simple. His parents were at the palace. Prince Eric wasn’t staying at the palace. He was at another of the royal residences. They weren’t even aware of what was going on with Ariel and all that non-sense. See… Eric was being a good citizen of the people before he became ruler of the people. Much like the current British monarchy where you see Princes William and Harry fulfilling military service roles, Prince Eric was serving in the navy of his country. Thats why he was on the ship and having “adventures”. Granted, he had Grimsby there with him as a sort of royal advisor who did try and nudge Eric in certain directions, but ultimately couldn’t make his decisions for him. 

So Eric’s parents are alive, and well, and happy. When they receive the news of their son’s exploits, and the fact that he defeated Ursula, and has earned the friendship of King Triton … they’d be absolutely thrilled and proud of him, and would happily welcome Ariel into the family.
