The more I’m inundated with stupid discourse, the more I realize that anti-transmasculine people legitimately think that male privilege is a random cis man being a little nicer to you on the street and not institutional power and favor.

Like, do you think that passing makes it easier to get diagnosed with endometriosis? Breast cancer? Cervical cancer? Do you think it’s a privilege to be denied access to or harassed out of or humiliated by “women’s clinics” that are the only places to get necessary medical care? Do you think being men makes our health issues any more studied?

Do you think this “male privilege” means that we’re no longer barred from all sports because our HRT is considered doping? Do you think that a judge or employer is any more likely to protect us from a cis person? Do you think that we’re in any less danger if/when we’re outed? Do you think male privilege lowers the 46% sexual assault rate that trans men face?

The nature of it is that masculinity in general is seen as predatory and aggressive. This affects trans women in obvious ways, but it also affects trans men in how we’re depicted as simultaneously confused girls as well as predators trying to trans your daughter’s gender. It’s in your parents telling you that you killed their beautiful daughter. It’s in how the queer community demonizes us for choosing masculinity. It’s in the assumption that transmasculinity is inherently misogynistic. It’s in the assumption that trans men aren’t in any danger in male spaces. It’s in the way our own community decides that passing or binary trans men aren’t queer. It’s in the benevolent third-gendering of trans men to insist that “nooo youre not like (real) men!”

No community with the marginalized, no respect from the oppressors. This is male privilege.

Forgot to add this onto the last, already too wordy post, but YES trans men should be centered in feminism lmao. This is because the rights of trans men hinge on the rights of women, and we are often excluded and thus affected disproportionately in some areas, for example in healthcare. This is ALSO because the class of “woman” deserve human rights, they deserve rights to self determination, this is what we are all fighting for in feminism, bodily autonomy and equality. You will know if all women achieve even close to that goal when trans men are allowed to exist in peace — this is because one of the rights given to “women” should be the autonomy to choose to not be a woman. The patriarchy can only be dismantled when the class divide is lifted — when you can make an autonomous decision in your gender, rather than hinge it on sex, appearance, and more. If we are forced into boxes this means there is an exploitative reason. This is why TERFs are so stupid — the rights of cis women will ALWAYS depend on the rights of trans women, men, nonbinary, neutral, ALL trans people. And ALL intersex people. And feminism is not complete without dismantling racism. This is because we all inherently challenge a class divide. Harming us means shooting yourself in the foot.

it both saddens me and really fucking aggravates me when some types of trans men pride themselves on being good, quiet, pliant men, and put down the ones that want to be outspoken.

when the subject at hand is how we're erased in topics that affect and often outright kill us (see: reproductive health, homelessness, sexual assault rates, etc), I don't see anything admirable about going "well, we're still men, so this isn't our place to speak over women." it's speaking over women to say we experience this too?

if I want to be blunter than usual, I'd say this "sitting down and being a good little trans guy" shtick only helps the people that want us dead. if talking about how we're oppressed (instead of rocketing up to some place of absolute privilege like they assume) upsets some people, frankly, I don't give a shit. I'll maybe give a shit when my trans brothers stop dying of sepsis, slaughter and suicide. until then, I hope being forced to acknowledge us makes you feel guilty enough to listen.
