Well, I can’t really go back in time and film it, but I guess I can strip down most of the layers and show you the workflow in general

Although technically I do the 5th step before 4th (first I plan the general lights/shadows, then go back to details, then adjust the general shading again)

I’m not dead! I’m still here!

For those who don’t know me, my name is Claire, and for the last 18 months I’ve been working as an editor at a UK publishing company, as well as completing freelance work for other publishers. Prior to that, I completed a Master’s degree in publishing, and completed editorial internships at two UK fiction publishers, including one specialising in science fiction and fantasy books. I’ve beta-read for many people, and an independent author I have worked with has reached the full manuscript request stage of Pitch Wars two years running.

Unfortuntately my contract ended last week, and because of the current global situation, the UK publishing industry has slowed to a crawl, and recruitment isn’t really going anywhere fast. In an effort to not starve, I’m opening up my freelance editorial services again.

For £40, I will:

- Read the first three chapters or 15,000 words of your story, and a complete synopsis of the whole work

- Provide in-text notes on your writing and language

- Provide overall feedback on your tone, story structure, plot, and characters

- Discuss any questions you have on this feedback either via email or a call

To begin with, I’m opening up 10 slots, and I’ll update this post when they are filled. You can contact me to reserve slots through tumblr, or through my website.

You can send me your documents once you have a slot, but I will not release feedback until we’ve sorted payment.

I love working with stories and writers, and making books the best they can be, so I hope you’ll be happy to work with me, and I look forward to hearing from you!
