If I had the courage to leave -everything- behind, this would be my ideal place to live. On my own terms.
Ahh... If there is one thing to be learned in this humanly existence, it's this. How you feel about yourself directly affects everything you do in this world.
Everything has been figured out, except how to live.
Jean-Paul Sarte (via a-higher-level)
If this is intended the way in which I’ve interpreted it, we’ve figured that out too. It’s just that once you get caught up in trying to figure out how to do it, you can never go back to actually do it.
(via thewalkingparadox)
What does it really mean to live? Is it about fulfilling our goals? To find out about ourselves, and the reason (or purpose) of why we're all here? I'm still trying to figure that out.
I've been Lost inside my mind and I forgot that I am free. I can be what I want to be.
It’s so annoying sometimes when I ask people what they think about a particular subject or concept and they recite to me the views of a Philosopher. It’s cool and all where understanding that philosopher will help me understand their views because it reflects what they think, or even if they’re just saying it as an extra perspective in addition or in contrast to their own. But most times when I ask I get a huge report on how this person would respond to it (where they end up disagreeing with it anyway!) and no ideas of their own when that’s what I really wanted to know.
I can relate. That's why I've been unfollowed in the past few days. No original thought of my own, and I've become a copy of a copy of a copy. It's easier to quote a philosopher than to come up with your own thoughts or ideas, because it requires you to look into yourself and figure out who you really are. Who can truly represent you, but yourself? I take responsibility for my own mediocre-ness, and have no one to blame but myself. If someone doesn't like your opinion, that's on them. I have to remember this.

Terence McKenna
“We have to create culture, don’t watch TV, don’t read magazines, don’t even listen to NPR. Create your own roadshow. The nexus of space and time where you are now is the most immediate sector of your universe, and if you’re worrying about Michael Jackson or Bill Clinton or somebody else, then you are disempowered, you’re giving it all away to icons, icons which are maintained by an electronic media so that you want to dress like X or have lips like Y. This is shit-brained, this kind of thinking. That is all cultural diversion, and what is real is you and your friends and your associations, your highs, your orgasms, your hopes, your plans, your fears. And we are told ‘no’, we’re unimportant, we’re peripheral. ‘Get a degree, get a job, get a this, get a that.’ And then you’re a player, you don’t want to even play in that game. You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.”
...when I don't want to think, I turn into a puppet. My thoughts become someone else's, and it's easier to have someone else speak for me. Quotes from others are okay as long as you don't use it to mimic your own voice. I had a shock to my system last night, or a wake-up call of sorts. Everything that happens is designed to help wake you up, especially the unpleasant ones that force you to ask why. Think for Yourself.
This is closer to the truth than anything else I know. I feel somewhat detached from my own mind, and I've been relying too much on quotes and the thoughts of others to speak for me rather than sharing my own Truths (whatever they may be). It isn't that I have nothing to say... I just don't want to sound like an ignoramus. Yet relying on thoughts and words from others merely makes me a puppet. Sometimes it's a necessity to think for yourself in order to find yourself.

On some nights, I would gaze up into the night sky, filled with billions and billions of stars, and realize just how small we are. So small, so insignificant, sitting on a tiny blue rock with 7 billion people, before the mighty grandeur of the Cosmos.”
