Currently reading Red, White, and Royal Blue and I am LOVING IT! Let me tell you.

I just wanted to pop in here for a second and comment on a detail that I loved seeing included but wanted to expand on: Alex hanging up a photo on his desk wall.

Above is the photo Alex mentioned, and I’ve included a potrait of the man who made the jacket and wore it (the pink triangle is equally important and I encourage everyone to research its history). His name is David Wojnarowicz and that name should be remembered. He was an artist and activist and sadly did pass away in 1992 after contracting HIV in the late 80s. The man who photographed his portrait above, Peter Hujar, also passed away from AIDS related illnesses in 1987. They had a fierce friendship. You can view this portrait of David by Peter at the Whitney Museum in NYC... when it reopens.

We lost an entire generation of great minds and artists to a disease that tore through the world because the people in charge didn’t care enough about those who it was affecting to do anything about it. That painful reality still resonates today.

Crows normally walk. This one seems to have both legs working, so he’s not hopping out of necessity, he’s doing it for fun. Corvids can sometimes be seen doing things like this for no evident reason other than enjoyment.
