Isn't the whole thing a false equivalent in the first place? We're here equating a pre-T trans guy who gets seen as a cis woman with transitioned trans women who get seen as, well, trans women. But what about pre-transition trans women who get seen as cis men? If we're going your route of ignoring the pain of being misgendered in the first place, you're obviously not gonna tell me that cis women get treated better than cis men.

And yes, being pre-HRT does get you treated as your perceived gender if you're not out to people, as all the IRL people I know who see me as a cis woman are proof of.

im not comparing a pre-T trans man to a "transitioned trans woman who gets seen as a trans woman" i'm comparing a pre-T trans man to a trans woman. Any trans woman. cis women do not get treated better than cis men, but trans men aren't cis women and trans women aren't cis men.

i was not treated like a cis man before my transition. i was treated like a pre-transition trans woman, which is what i was.

and yes, getting misgendered as a trans woman is more dangerous. v-coding is the most obvious and best example of this

I feel like this isn't really something many cis lesbians would agree with. A lot of cis lesbians are very much attracted to trans men and a lot of straight trans men prefer to identify as lesbians. And it has always been this way.

A surprising number of cis and trans lesbians are full-service sex workers so lesbians do absolutely fuck men, even if it's just for money.

I'm not even going to mention how widespread the conversion "kink" is among both cis and trans lesbians.

But in the end "lesbians are not attracted to and don't fuck men" is really only true as a transmisogynistic dog whistle, same as having a "genital preference" because let's be real, the only genital preference that exists is one that excludes both pre-op and post-op trans women.

This isn't even how visibility works. Minstrelsy was bad visibility and that was 100 years ago. We still have minstrelsy in the modern day. Mainstream depictions of mentally ill women are bad visibility and have been for the entirety of media. We still have those stereotypes and those pervasive cultural ideas around mental illness and women. They are not progress, they are emblematic of oppression.

Bad visibility is not a "step" along the road to normalizing any marginalized group, it's the starting point. It's where a marginalized group is placed within the hierarchical structures. Bad visibility is not progress. It is quite literally part of the oppressive structures. It's one of the foundational forces of oppression.

I just. This is so dumb. It's such a fuckin misunderstanding of how oppression works. Tell asians in the 1980s that the stereotypes at the end of A Christmas Story was actually progress instead of reinforcement of bigoted ideas about asians.
