Iām 27 and living a full, beautiful, blessed life.Ā So full, in fact, that I can already feel pieces slipping from my memory. This is yet another stab at holding onto the little bits and pieces that I donāt ever want to lose, even though I know Iāll never be able to put enough of them into words.Ā The order will not be chronological or organized.Ā The content will not be themed or tailored to an audience.Ā It could be things that come to mind at random, pieces I thought Iād lost but managed to revisit, posts Iāve made on other accounts, or events as they happen.Ā This is memories both past and present ā may they never fade.Ā
When Milo was about 3 years old, we had aĀ ācrazy lampā that would randomly turn off and back on. When we were reading bedtime stories, the lamp would turn of and he would LAUGH AND LAUGH AND LAUGH until it came back on. Then heād sayĀ ācrazy lampā and weād continue reading until it went out again and again.Ā
If someone were to put together a Thesaurus from the mind of a 6-year-old boy, the synonyms for āweaponā would be unendingā¦
Just tonight Iāve seen a breadstick, plastic cup, towel, pencil, rubber ball, thermometer, and playing card all transform into weapons of unimaginable strength the moment they touched Miloās hands.
His imagination is ACTIVE this evening. Ā (LOVE IT!)
In our house hunt this last year, we came across a house that needed LOTS of work but for some reason, it was Milo's absolute favorite. We didn't end up getting it, but later I asked him why that one was his favorite. His answer -- "because there were dinosaur stickers all over my bedroom door".
Since then I've let him put dinosaur stickers on his bedroom door in the house we DID buy so that it can be everything he loved about that other house.
This kid DOES NOT trust pockets. Like not even a little bit. He will do anything he can to avoid carrying things in pockets, but if he's really left with no other option, he keeps a death-grip on the pocket the entire time -- completely voiding the point of putting something in the pocket in the first place!! I do not know what pockets ever did to lose his trust, but I fear they may never earn it back. š This kid... He never ceases to amaze and entertain!
So Milo has a band-aid on his finger right now and I wish everyone could ask this and hear the answer in person - but for those that can't, here's how the conversation would go...
"But mom, can watch a show first? I'll cuddle with you."
Yes, I'm aware that he's playing hard ball - that was made perfectly clear with the adorable smirk on his face as he said it and the salesman tone in his voice...
But you can bet your biscuits that I immediately gave in and we watched a show.
Take it while you can get it, right mama's?

There are lots of 'sad-mom moments' that you can kinda mentally prepare for -- like your baby's first steps, first day of school, first day of college, etc.... Those are the ones they warn you about.
Then you have the ones they DON'T warn you about. Like the moment you realize their clothes are big enough to not need the mini hangers anymore and that they fit on adult hangers just fine. Or having to carefully sort the socks because their feet are so big that you can barely tell the difference between your own socks and their own.
My take-away -- mom's shouldn't do laundry. Apparently it can get emotional.
