thatâs rough, buddy ll OPEN
Mayumi had assumed that since theyâd dealt with one trial already, that this one wouldnât be so bad. Even if it sucked that they even had to have a trial at all, at least they knew what to do, what to ask, what to look for...all that shit, right?
Wrong. They were so very wrong.
The trial was confusing; and not just because theyâd fallen asleep as soon as they took a desk, and had only woken up about a third of the way in. No, it was because there were notes, missing memories, hidden evidence, hair, and a bunch of things that they couldnât understand. They hadnât really been much help, given that their investigation had come up empty. So theyâd mostly listened.Â
Well, until the killer had been revealed and had given them her reasoning. Theyâd had plenty to say to her then. What theyâd said was rude, and had probably earned them lots of ire from everyone else, but they were resolute. There was never a good reason to murder someone, to end the life of someone who didnât and hadnât wanted to die. Someone with so much potential, and yet it was taken away for one reason or another. Not that they were going to touch the topic of Martaâs reasoning with a ten foot pole. It was better to not care about her and just get angry at her since she had killed Arielle after all. Which is why they didnât really care all that much when faced with Martaâs execution. Just like Florian before her, it was what she deserved.
After all that was over with, they went back to their room to change their mask. Now that the bleeding had stopped, they didnât want to be walking around looking like a serial killer. After doing that, the urge to not be in their room anymore struck. It was partially brought on because they wanted to see all the new rooms that had opened up and partially because they didnât want to run into their roommate. Like the others, she hadnât been too pleased at them for their words, and they were in no mood to be lectured. So they decided to poke around the new rooms for the time being.
Some of the rooms were just basic things like an art room or a music room. However, there were a bunch of rooms that were similar to the Simulation Room. They were of less quality, but they were clearly supposed to replicate a certain environment. There were a lot of them, too. How weird. But they were more interesting than any of the other rooms that had opened up, so might as well chill in one of them.
They opened one at random and immediately, they were enveloped in darkness, and would have had a hard time seeing, if it werenât for the hallway lights and a fake moon shining down. The floor was mostly grass, with a pond in the middle. It was nice enough and it was kind of relaxing looking, so they closed the door shut behind them and walked to the middle of it. It didnât seem to have much else besides the pond, and a mirror at the end of the room. The occasional large scratch mark on the walls were a little off-putting, but hey, everyone had their flaws.
They sat down at the edge of the pond, removed their socks and shoes, rolled up their pant legs, and dipped their feet into the water. Shit, they forgot to roll their pants legs up high enough and it was getting wet. Well, too little, too late. They didnât really care anyway. The atmosphere in the room was somber, silent and strangely relaxing. They simply sat there, thinking about the events that had just occurred, what to do next...and then finally thinking about nothing at all. It was nice.
Of course, nothing good like that was bound to last for more than...however long theyâd been in there. The door opened and someone walked in. They didnât turn their head, though. Whoever it was wasnât someone they probably cared about. As whoever it was seemed in no hurry to leave, they aimlessly kicked their feet in the water, speaking to them in a flat tone.
â...Yo. Howâs it going.â
It wasnât a question or a statement, but a throwaway gesture of formality with no intention of being answered.
