Wien looks forward to asparagus season every spring. It is like a special ritual in May - to cook and eat asparagus dishes: risotto, pasta, salads, soups and even desserts! All kind of asparagus variations are sold: white, green, lilac, small, big, medium. Asparagus is offered everywhere: in supermarkets, farm markets, directly from farms and on special „Fresh strawberry and asparagus“ stalls around the city. This year I have cooked an interesting variant of asparagus cream-soup with sour cream. In Vienna there is a Restaurant Tester service/site, which I like a lot, as they provide a good overview on the new locations and menus, have a lot of feedbacks, photos and information.  But what I like the most is Kulinarische Kostproben (Culinary tasting) – restaurants-participants create a special menus to attract new or surprise existing clients. I like these menus as they are specially designed (supposed to represent the kitchen of the restaurant) so everything fits to each other, usually best fit wine is recommended, there is a topic of the menu – season, tradition or area – so it makes certain sense, and price is attractive. Yesterday we were in Italian restaurant Procacci, in the very center of Vienna. I certainly like the location, design and service of the restaurant – super! Food was also very tasty! I just add a little bit of critics here – I would expect something exciting, and it was just very tasty. We will come back 100% and I am sure Procacci will positively surprise us. Vienna is famous with its parks. When I just came here I was amazed how well maintained all parks are regardless if they are located in the center or not. Today we were in Volksgarten which is famous for its roses. At this time of the year they all blossom – all kind of coloures and types. More than 5000 plants!!😲 There are small plates on the roses with names and different text: Forever love! Kisses! Always together! We will never forget you, beloved father… etc. For around 300 EUR per year it is possible to sponsorship a rose and put your plate on it.
