Day 15
I am thankful that I am bundled and cozy in these blankets. Some days are simple and plain.
Day 14
I am thankful my body moves as I command it to. For the most part, but those times I am reminded that my mind can be pretty dumb and not know what is going on.
Day 13
I am thankful that there is something to be thankful for, I just can not consciously find it. And I may forget before I remember. But it is out there somewhere, waiting for me to notice.
Day 12
I am thankful to this 12.6 lb box of metal & plastic bits that can memorize, process, & understand more information than I can consciously at less than half my age. And if it ever got sick, I have tens of places to take it to for help.
Day 11
I am thankful I am still learning to knit, to talk, to draw, to weld, to pilot, to play. There are so many unique and special and not too different things to learn that choosing between them is often harder to do than learning them. I am also learning to time, that is the upmost important skill, second only to knowing how to live.
Day 10
I am thankful we have a means of communication that does NOT require physical contact. Trying to break down the abstract metaphysical tapestry of human conscience and memories and perceptions is a lot easier without having to physically break open a human skull for their brains and eyeballs.
Day 9
I am thankful the 100 billion brain cells of my body take good care of me. They may like to tease me every so often with stress and anxiety, but I forgive them because they keep my heart beating, my lungs moving, my eyes focused, my ears tuned, my nose sensitive, my hand’s 123 ligaments and 34 muscles mostly coordinated, and take me on insane trips. Like my face to the floor, such a classic arc.
Day 8
I am thankful there is something to learn within every moment if you are aware. Some lessons are repetitive such as treat people courteously. While others are unique like understanding the texture and color variation of someone’s blind eye.
Day 7
I am thankful food is always an option. Some choices may be mind-boggling expensive and others completely unappetizing from my perspective, but I have options and will not starve to death.
Day 6
I am thankful calling someone a foot away from me is the same as someone half a world away, while my information is converted from sound waves to digital pulses relayed to a 100+ foot tower between 0-3 miles away into a insulated cable miles long to a database center and directed via cable or satellite to the correct section of the world’s database back into another cable to another 100+ foot tower traveling between 0-3 miles in electronic impulses to a tiny electronic board the size of a fingernail that converts them back into sound waves. Every instance of time.
Day 5
I am thankful that the world turns and is always moving, sometimes bringing people kicking back at home and screaming in childbirth into the new tomorrow.
Day 4
I am thankful that while some sounds I hear mean something terrible and saddening has happened, the sound itself is a signal that help is on the way.
Day 3
I am thankful that I am able to eat food that may have traveled further than most humans in their entire lives. Both in history and current times.
Day 2
I am thankful I ride in a giant metal box constantly exploding thousands of times a minute 5 feet in front of me. And behind me. And to the left and right of me. And that EVERY thing is working as intended mostly.
Day 1
I am thankful I. AM. HERE.
