PS-MIDI pad (part 1)
A new project on converting a PS1 controller to a MIDI connection (I know it would be substantialy easier to convert directly to USB and use one of the existing progremms out there to do this task. But this is an experiment). Inorder to use as a MIDI controller for Puredata, VST’s etc.
Along with this I will be building a MIDI to USB converter using a Arduino Micro or Leonardo (probably Micro, though both should work as the USB host.
My plan is for the MIDI connection to be slightly different to usual, with a 3.3v supply, and a clock signal from the Arduino. I don’t think the clock signal is needed but i’m working this out on the fly. Some of the pins on the conntroller aren’t needed in this situation, the attention pin may be needed, if only to be pulled low. In normal use this is low for the duration of a transmission.
The next thing I need to do is get a controller, get my Oscilloscope up and running and have a play.
More to come...
