was explaining eddsworld to a good friend of mine last night from the beginning to the end (finale from my understanding) and then proceeded to show them the finale by their request and maybe I'm too woke but I realized how gay it felt. Like what do you mean this random red guy comes back and basically steals green guy and purple guy (especially green guy) away from blue guy? What do you mean red guy and blue guy have weird tension going on? What do you mean red guy drives blue guy out OF HIS HOME (that he shares with green and purple guys) and when green guy gets worried for blue guy red guy brushes it off? What do you mean red guy takes green and purple guy away from the house to steal a robot he had in his room and then proceeds to only say bye to green guy when he just hit purple guy and basically betrayed both purple and green guy both???

thinking about why kaisagi stuck with me more than kainess when usually I'm a big fan of friends to lovers, and I realized that Ness usually enables Kaiser even though he objectively loves and definitely has a more intimate relationship with Kaiser and has provided security to kaiser when all he was used to was instability due to his upbringing, he doesn't push kaiser to be his best. yes he cares, yes he praises kaiser, yes he loves him, but he doesn't see him for the BEST he can be Ness keeps Kaiser where Kaiser wants to be - someone who completely overturned his past despite the adversity he's faced. But Isagi challenges that. Isagi forces him to acknowledge how he got there in the first place. Makes him realize that strength isn't all there is to everything. He strips down Kaiser's throne through infiltrating the team and playing against him. Isagi doing this, unintentionally makes Kaiser realize the way he is isn't gonna cut it. It breaks him and pisses him off And the worst part is? He feels affirmed. He's having fun. And don't get me wrong, I LOVE KAINESS (I really do) in the same way I love pearl and rose quartz from steven universe, but the way Kaiser and Isagi's chemistry is written drives me insane especially after the uniqlo interview. Like what do you mean Isagi sees Kaiser as the best version of himself? As someone he wants to catch up with? As someone he later on teams up with and does reach? A parallel version of himself? It's insanely thoughtful. They reflect and bounce off of one each other so much. Why? Because they're both talented learners. They both understand each other to a certain degree. And they both piss each other off! They truly complement one another. And I love them so much. Both ships are so dear to me. Blue lock is called BL for a reason.

Seto kaiba pisses me off in a way that makes me feel like one of those "you cant like that character because theyre Problematic" kids for mentioning it, but also, honestly i think I'm a little justified in that. Like i think the plot just loves him way too much. The thing about powerful dramatic self-serving asshole characters is that you want to see them fail eventually, you want that hubris to be their downfall and for them to be forced to do better. But seto kaiba already HAD that arc. He falls from power after death-t and recieves the payoff for it in duelist kingdom...... so now he just kind of spends the rest of the series in the same place DK left him in, character wise. I mean, you come to understand why he's like that more and more, but he still does horrible things that hurt more people than they help. He still puts people in danger the entire series, even if he's not building the saw traps, and sometimes he decides to have a moment of moral clarity. They make a POINT of showing you that he's falling back onto his revenge-driven motivation, that it's overpowering the community-driven motive he had at his best point--but there's never a payoff to that. There's never another point where he's truly humbled, or forced to really think about what's important and change as a person because of it. The closest we get is him helping the pharoah out a couple of times.

I think it's, in part, another way the pivot to card games butterfly-effected the character writing. Seto is simultaneously a character that can't work as a main driving force, and only works as a main driving force, if that makes sense. The structure of the story pivoted at some point, and became fundamentally uninterested in forcing Seto to be a Character in a way that meant as much as it did pre-DK. And as such he has to exist in a state of character limbo. He can never truly win, because that would force the series to end, if not literally than spiritually. It'd leave the main character defeated, and Seto himself devoid of motivation like the dog that finally caught its tail. But he also can never lose in a way that holds unique weight, because it would stop the story in its tracks and force the plot to accommodate him. He needs to maintain an episodic cartoon antagonist level of stagnance to be allowed the continued relvance that franchise desperately needs.

I dont have a conclusion statement for this TLDR; Seto Kaiba should've gotten kicked in the Seto Kaiballs
