1. it’s been rumored that you’re the sober one of your band, five seconds of summer. what made you make that decision? did you use to partake in the alleged frequent alcohol and drug use that your other bandmates have? and do you think that it divides you from your friends when you’re not drinking with them?

listen, i’m no saint. i just have limits. and i know my limits a little more. that’s it. no more no less. sure it makes going out different. but, i get to take care of my boys so what’s the harm in that ?? 

 2. we’ve asked this to luke, so it’s only right we ask you as well. would you ever consider making music on your own? going solo? what would you do if the band ever fell apart? do you think you and the others would remain close? 

nah. i don’t think i could handle doing music more than with them. i think no matter what -- or i hope, at least -- we’ll always be there. 

 3. youngblood was both a lyrically complex and meaningful album for you and your band. what song has the most meaning to  you and why? does it make it difficult having an emotional connection to a song when you are playing live?

i think the whole album has a lot of found and lost love aspects and like ... life. we had a chance to write about something deeper than we ever knew to be possible. we’re obviously proud of every song we put out. but there’s obviously something more about this. all the pain, and the healing within it is so new; i think that’s why it means so much. and it definitely makes it harder to play something live. when you add in the high of being up there mixed with all the feelings, it’s not easy. but we’re here because we do it. and i love to be that vulnerable. some words just fall too short, you know ??

 4.  it’s rumored that you and your fiancee recently broke up. do you mind telling us more about that relationship? what was the reason why you two decided not to get married? and are you still in touch with her? 

uh, no. there’s nothing really to talk about there. because, i didn’t do it. she did. so when she gives me a reason, i guess you’ll know too. 

 5. michael, you’re still very young but have already spent many years in the music industry. do you ever feel like you were robbed of a normal childhood? has there been any scary encounters when you were younger being so famous at such a young age?

hell no. we all CHOSE this life and we fell in love with it very fast. we still got a childhood in my opinion and i personally like how it all played out.
