Yuto swallows thickly, unsure whether to run or not. She looks so much like Ruri, but the more she looks at him like this, the more his mind picks out little details that are different. Sheâs got a birthmark that Ruri doesnât, and her mannerism are distinctly unlike Ruri, among other things. Still, he canât just abandon her if heâs wrong and it really is her in some form.
He gets to his feet and takes a half-step back, fingers of his right hand grazing his duel disk instinctively. âWho are you?â his tone of voice has changed significantly, now much harsher. âDo you work for Fusion?â itâs a simple question, likely too simple for someone in this dimension, but he thinks he ought to ask now rather than regret it later.
And that name she calls him- someone elseâs. If it was just him, then perhaps he could dismiss this as coincidence, but her knowing him in some form means that this was most likely intentional in some way. It makes his skin crawl.
When the boy takes a step back, Yuzu does the same. She might not have her duel disk on her right now, but she was sure she could run and retrieve it before this guy could catch up with her, if she really had to.
He looked like a duelist who knew what he was doing, so sheâd have to be on her A-game if it came to that...
âI told you already. My nameâs Yuzu. I donât know what âFusionâ is, but I donât work for them.â She retorts, her own tone of voice getting harsher as well. This... This wasnât Yuya. It looked like him. The face was unmistakable. Sheâd seen that exact same face give her a goofy grin far too many times to forget it. But even though this looked like him, it wasnât Yuya, or at least not the Yuya she knew.
âAnyway, thatâs my line. If youâre not Yuya, then who are you? And what do you want with me and this Ruri girl you mentioned?â
From the way he shifted to such a cold, harsh demeanor in an instant, she couldnât imagine he had anything good planned for her, or the girl he seemed to be searching for.
