Kentin sat on his couch, flipping through channels aimlessly. The best thing to do on a Saturday night? Rot away while watching soaps. Kentin was invited to the big bash that Castiel and Lysander had put together, but his gut had told him to stay home. Of course, every decision has it’s consequences. And his was a night filled with boredom and dramatic television.
‘’I wonder what Candy’s doing..’’ He mumbles as he shoots a side glance to his phone that laid benignly on the spot beside him. He knew Candy had went to the party, but he wondered if she was either talking to some guys (like Castiel) or walking about, alone. A shudder runs through his spine as he thinks about her flirting with the other boys in Sweet Amoris.
Kentin and Candy had an odd, flirtatious relationship, but nothing serious. Most of their feelings were unsaid, well, on her part, and knowing she’s at a party with the other boys (who don’t hide their attraction for her) causes jealousy to bubble in the pit of his stomach.
After a few hours of self-pity, he decides that it’s time to turn in for the night. Before he can get up and walk towards his room, his phone buzzes with the familiar sound of his ringtone.
When he looks at the caller, the screen blinks with an unknown number.
‘’Hello?’’ Kentin says, glancing at the time on his phone. ‘’It’s 2:30 in the morning-’’
‘’K-Kenny!’’ Candy’s slurs echo from the speaker of his phone, and Kentin has to put it a few inches from his ear in an effort not to burst his eardrum.
‘’Um, Candy?’’ He tentatively puts the phone closer to his face, hesitant to hear what else she’s gonna spill out. ‘’Are you okay?’’
‘’I-i lost my phone,’’ Candy says, but her voice shows no trace of worry, sadness or any logical emotion. ‘’But i’m using Alexy’s so it’s a-okay!’’ A pair of giggles echo from behind her, and Candy’s voice faintly tells them to shush.
‘’Ah, okay.’’ Kentin looks around his living room awkwardly. ‘’Did you need something?’’
‘’Noooope!’’ She screeches then giggles to herself. ‘’I just wanted to talk to…kennykins.’’ She says and a heat rises up Kentin’s neck. Thank God she cant see his face.
‘’Ah, I see.’’ He looks at his feet. ‘’How’s the party?’’
‘’Laame.’’ She huffs and Alexy is heard yelling incoherent words at the top of his lungs. ‘’Alexy, shut up!’’
‘’Doesn’t seem like it.’’ Kentin mumbles and the other line is silent for a moment.
‘’Can you pick me up?’’ She says finally and sighs. ‘’Alexy is about to strip.’’ She sounds mad but then giggles to confirm that she find’s it rather amusing.
Kentin looks around his house, wondering what he should do. His parents aren’t home for the weekend, so it wouldn’t technically be a problem. At the same time, his bed does sound good at the moment, and Candy seems to be enjoying herself without him there.
‘’Don’t be petty, Kentin.’’ He says to himself and Candy answers with a, ‘what did you say?’ to which Kentin stays silent.
‘’Okay, i’m coming.’’ He says, finally. The answer ‘no’ is inexistent when it comes to Candy. ‘’Where are you, exactly?’’
Candy tells him the address and he grabs his jacket from the coat hanger, not caring that he’s about to walk outside dressed in pajamas.
After a forty five minute drive, Candy is seen at the end of the street, with Rosalya and Alexy fooling around near a trash can. Candy seems considerably sober compared to the both of them, to Kentin’s relief.
‘’Howdy, Partner!’’ Candy says after she walks over to the passenger door. Rosalya and Alexy follow her, pooling inside the back seat without question.
‘’Hi.’’ Kentin mumbles, as he glances over his shoulder.
‘’Kennykinsss!’’ Alexy wraps his arms around Kentin’s neck, choking him in the process. ‘’Ahh, I missed your army pants. You make 2011 look so 2038!’’
‘’Great.’’ He wiggles out of Alexy’s grasps and watches as Candy plops into the passenger seat, giggling.
Candy then looks at Kentin and gives him a tight hug in greeting, which causes Kentin’s cheeks to turn a bright red. The whole ride through, she babbles on about the party, but Kentin can’t focus on anything but how touchy Candy is being.
‘’You should have came!’’ Candy says.
After dropping Alexy and Rosalya off, they begin driving to Candy’s apartment.
‘’Sorry i’ve been such a trouble.’’ She laughs, her slurs slightly less apparent. ‘’Castiel was too drunk to drive me home and there were no taxis at this hour.’’
Kentin nods. ‘’Castiel was drunk?’’
Candy’s eyes go wide. ‘’Oh gosh, so drunk!’’ She giggles. ‘’At one point he was on the roof naked, luckily I didn’t get the view.’’ She scrunches up her nose, sticking her tongue out in mock disgust.
‘’Can I ask you a question?’’ Kentin says, biting his lip.
‘’How drunk are you right now?’’
Candy then shoots him a small smile. ‘’Haha, im not drunk.’’ She says simply. ‘’Actually I didn’t drink at all tonight.’’
Kentin raises an eyebrow, and when they reach her apartment he looks at her intently.
‘’I just wanted to have a reason to call you.’’ And with that she gets out the car, thanking him before jogging inside the building.
Yes, this is so much better than soaps.
