On Twitter, women are sharing stories of sexual abuse by using the hashtag #Cuentalo (Spanish for #SayIt, almost an equivalent of #MeToo).
This hashtag became viral after the verdict of “La Manada” in Spain, a group of five men who intimated and raped an 18 year old woman during the Sanfermines, a festival in Pamplona, Spain in 2016. They were only sentenced to nine years in prison only because the judges considered that their crime was only a sexual offense/abuse, not rape.
Some of the men recorded videos of this act on their phones, seven videos in total. These were posted on their WhatsApp group where they made fun of the victim and promised to share their on social media.
Their names are Jose Angel Prenda, Antonio Manuel Guerrero, Angel Boza, Alfonso Jesus Cabezuelo and Jesus Escudero.
