Hipster Killroy is hipster

I know that this is supposed to be for a person on tumblr so this won't count, but I still wanted to recognize someone who has made a profound difference in my life so that's what this post is for. The person I'm nominating for Give Love Today is my grandfather, Howard. Back in the summer of 2015, I spent 100 days in the hospital. As my parents both had to work, my grandfather (at 87 years old) spent every single day, from 10 am to 7 pm, at my bedside. He was there when I was on a stretcher in a crowded room with men three times my age, telling me stories about when he was a child and comforting me. He was there when I started to get iv nutrition and was placed in a cardiac unit. He was there when my port became infected and I went septic. He held my hand and got my cool towels when my fever spiked and I began to hallucinate. He was there when we made the decision to have a feeding tube put through my stomach at only 18, when I was told "no one my age should have a tube". I was terrified, but my grandpa stayed with me and kept me calm. He was there when I walked the stage at graduation, bringing me flowers and telling me how proud he was of me. As I began to eat again, my grandpa brought food in from my favourite restaurants and we ate together. We walked the halls as I pushed my pump ahead of me, did puzzles in the lounge, and completed word searches together. No matter the circumstance, he was always there. I've been out of the hospital for just under a year now and my grandpa is still there for me. He drives me to school and we take trips to look at horses and cows out in the country. I love to spend time with him and I treasure every second with him. Despite losing his wife of over 50 years, my grandpa carries on. He's always smiling, always friendly to strangers. He motivates me to keep fighting. Because of his love for me, he motivates me to love others. It's my blessing to have someone like him in my life and I will never be able to accurately express my gratitude to him for all he's done for me. The world needs more people like my grandfather. And I aspire to become one of them.

Bananas are the best

Me: I mean, how could they not be? They're yellow. You know what else is yellow? THE SUN. Yes, the sun, the very thing that gives us light, the thing that gives us the ability to live on this crazy planet. You know what else bananas have? POTASSIUM. Your body needs it. Trust me on this, I'm sort of a doctor (I mean, I've seen an episode of House). Bananas also have peels. What other fruit has such a delightful method of self-containment and preservation? Go ahead, name one. Oh wait, you can't. Why? Because bananas are the best. And I guarantee, the banana is Misha's fruit of choice.

Also me: Are you insane? Bananas?! You've got to be kidding. Yellow is a stupid colour. Yellow is the colour that gets picked last for every sport. Nobody wants yellow. Why? Because just like your ridiculous opinion, it's useless. And potassium? Please! Wouldn't you much rather have something green and leafy? Of course you would because bananas are disgusting. What's even worse: their peels. Somebody slips and what do you have on your hands? A grade-A lawsuit, that's what. People could DIE. DO you really want to be responsible for a death? I THINK NOT. And Misha would NEVER endorse such a vile, heinous fruit. It's shape alone is borderline crass. Misha would never put such a rude fruit in his mouth. What kind of example is that for the children? Shame on you for even suggesting it.

Y’know I reblogged this a bit ago and was saved from financial probation and getting kicked out of school because of it, just mere months from graduation.
