You know how Ace last moments are him smiling? It is supposed to be this last comfort for Luffy at the time. Like how you comfort a child. I just can’t help but wonder if Luffy really even knew he was smiling at the time. Even worse is that from the voice and the liquid on his shoulder, Luffy could probably tell Ace was crying. It would have been the first time Luffy ever experienced him crying.

Luffy very obviously has internal thoughts, they usually are presented through pictures rather then an internal monologue. In the ‘throw your life away’ convo with Sanji, he thinks about shanks. He also thought about Vivi in Alabasta against crocodile. I am pretty sure he has some kinda internal monologue in skypea and impel down, but yeah those are rare.

I really do love Luffys little bug special interest.

Sometimes I passively wonder who taught Luffy all these different types of bugs, and I can’t help but feel like it was probably Sabo. I really can see him asking about every bug he sees and Sabo answering every question til the sun sets.

People never seem to understand that Tashigi doesn’t want the great swords to be in the wrong hands. This really depends on her specific mentality on who’s a ‘bad person.’ I think there’s value in seeing a marine have this kinda arc about morality and value in people.

I know in my BONES Luffy is the spitting image of his mother. Dragons genes should not be giving any level of fight. These are true facts.

It’s kinda sweet that when Luffy finds someone that reminds him of himself, especially his younger self, he subsumes the ‘tough love’ big brother role. It is something that has been happening, but it’s super noticeable post time skip. It comes across as Ace being the one person Lu always thinks ‘a Luffy’ needs.
