'One Day In August' - Marc Teichert (incl. download link)

I just feel like linking y'all to some pretty music today and telling a story of what I hear when I listen to these pieces.

It’s a ballet production. All black stage, no props. Very dim white light in the foreground. Spotlight. 

A dancer in white parades around the stage in a strained manner. Reaching for something they cannot have, aching for that ‘something’. 

Around 1:20, when the music changes to a major key, another dancer in white comes on and wraps their arms around the first. Immediately, it is known that this is what the first wanted. That person. The body language of the first changes from strained and anguished to relief and joy. 

Around 2:05, the two engage in a more dramatic dance. It transitions from relief of being reunited to a catharsis, of sorts. They purge all the pain they felt of separation. 

I don’t know. That’s what I see.
