i do enjoy the will-they-won't-they and intense chemistry between leon and ada, but i honestly think her being his wife doesn't fit either of their characters. for one, they never fully trust each other, and you don't marry someone you don't trust, regardless if you love them. especially not someone like leon. chemistry does not necessarily translate into a long-term relationship.

then there's ada herself, who never stays in one place, and is not portrayed as one who would like commitment – this doesn't make her a bad person the way some people seem to assume. when the developers say leon has "someone to come home to," that simply does not sound like ada because she wouldn't be sitting at home. do we also honestly believe that, if she were his wife, she'd let him run off to raccoon city by himself while deathly ill? and i just find it hard to believe she would marry anyone, because she prefers her life as it is and her freedom to come and go as she pleases.

if he is married to an already known and beloved character, my money's on claire. they have their shared relationship with sherry, he's already close with her brother, and i just think the image of them at the end of re2r sets the stage for the kind of relationship/marriage that both of their characters could actually end up happily in.

honestly, i think it would also be good writing to simply never tell us. let it be open-ended and people come up with their own conclusions.
