Today was such a long day and I’m exhausted. I had a seven hour comp sci class which took up literally my whole day. By the end of it, I needed a nap and that’s exactly what I did. When I woke up like 3 hours later I had gotten an email from a professor I was on the waitlist for and basically they gave me a permission number to be in their class! So I’m very happy about that. I was a little sad because my classmates from todays class were so cool, nice, and funny so I was bummed I had to leave (we had a discord). I also got lucky because I told my job I would have a Saturday class and that I wouldn’t be able to attend work on Saturday’s because its literally a 7 hour class but now that that class is dropped I now have my Saturdays free :) ( I’m not gonna tell my work about this 🤭)

So after my (long) nap I got to work and did some poli sci reading though I didn’t finish it. It was 40 pages and I had no idea! I also forgot we had videos to watch so I have to do that and we have two quizzes to complete by 11:00pm so I’m gonna try and get up early to do that and take my quizzes before work because I don’t get off of work until around 10pm. It’s going to take a while. I’ll just have to sacrifice my sleep for a day or two. 

I did my Spanish workbook today and I got so much wrong lol. I think I’ll try to squeeze in some quick Anki tomorrow (though not promised!) because I’m really bad at my vocabulary. 

I simply never got around to ANY of my calc work because I was in class for most of the day and then I scrambled to do my poli sci and Spanish. Maybe, I’ll just pull an all nighter tomorrow because we have weekly pop quizzes in calc and I’m already behind in my understanding of the coursework. We also have weekly quizzes/tests for the lab (on Friday.) 

This semester is already busy and jam packed!

Okay, what a day! Today, didn’t go as well as I hoped but that’s okay. I got some stuff done. I had a class today at 12:30 and had a calc quiz/test (which we’ll have every Friday) and I went to work and just off recently and did Spanish. I failed to sit at my desk because I was so sleepy. Tomorrow, I have no work but I do have class from 9am to 4ish. I plan on going to that class of course, getting back to my spanish workbook, studying for calc, and doing my poli sci homework. Is that ambitious? Yes! But hopefully, I can get it all done because I have no work at all. 

I really need to study for calc because for my calc lecture class we’ll have a surprise pop quiz every week and for the calc lab we’ll have a quiz/test every friday as well. So yeah, I definitely need to stay on top of my work for that class considering it’s a lot of work and I’m not really good at math like that. 

Task for tomorrow:

-Rewatch Calc lecture

-Do practice Calc problems

-Read for poli sci

-Do poli sci work and quizzes

-Spanish workbook

-Purchase calc textbook and calc lab textbook

-Download poli sci materials

-And most importantly, sit at my desk for all of this.

Y’all,,, I can explain my absence 😭 Okay, so on day 6 to be fair my power went out for a VERY long time and to the point that all my lights were off and the wifi wasn’t working due to a really bad rainstorm. For that day, I got most of what I needed to do except spanish :/ I had planned to do it but then the power had went out. But I did: sit at my desk and get some homework done.

Now for day 7, I don’t really have any excuses 🥴 I once again, got my schoolwork done and sat at my desk but didn’t practice Spanish because I was tired and lazy. 

These past few days I have not been productive at all. But tomorrow is a new day so I will be trying my best to get things done before I have to go to work at 3 (I’m a closer so I’m not off until 10 hence why I am writing this so late.)

Now for today, I had school and work. For the first ten to fifteen minutes of class I didn’t sit at my desk simply because I was lazy but later I got up and did it which actually really improved my learning experience which I’m happy about and one of the reasons I’m doing this. I didn’t study Spanish today (again) I know I’m sorry for slacking but I’m gonna get back on track and then I went to work from 3-10. Hopefully all goes well and to plan.

Lord have mercy, what a day! Today was the first day of classes and it went...interesting to say the least. I had two classes today: Philosophy and Calculus. I can already tell I’m not gonna like philosophy purely because of the professor and his teaching style, and for calculus I know it’s gonna give me a run for my money. I am not good at math AT ALL. I barely pass every year. We were assigned homework for calc and I already had to attend his office hours for help which took over an hour of his time and he had to go lmaoo then I called up my friend who got an A in calc and she went on to explain it to me. Which I now have a better understanding of. I’m nervous because both this philoposhy and calc have pop quizzes so I know it will require daily studying for both and that’s just for two of my classes. I still have two additional lectures (and labs to go with them!) I’m gonna try to stay optimistic and on top of my work this semester. I can do it! 

I didn’t want to do Spanish at all today, but I pushed through it (kinda) while I was on the phone with my friend. I gave up less than halfway when translating a paragraph. The main critique I have for this workbook is that they bring in material we haven’t learned yet. A lot of the vocab terms when translating these terms the author hasn’t given the reader. I’m not sure if it’s a tactic to make us look them up on our own or they really just didn’t realize and forgot but either way it’s extremely inconvenient and tiring going back and forth for every little word. That’s why I often give up on them. But tomorrow, I will go back and translate it no matter how long it takes. We are also moving onto a new section within the textbook: ser and estar. 

I think the plan for tomorrow (regarding Spanish) is to go back and fully translate the paragraph, do anki first before moving onto the new section (even though I *kinda* started it), and just see if I understand the previous material, and THEN proceed to move on.

Hmmm...what did I do. Felt like the day went by quickly as well as slowly because it’s still pretty early in the night. Today it was a rainy day and I absolutely loved it. It’s supposed to rain all week so I’m excited for that. I didn’t start my work until late 7ish-8 but the lazy girl pushed through and got it done. There’s not much to say, I got some conjugation worksheets off of google which really helped the reinforcement aspect and I also did the Anki vocabulary which helped A TON. Even in a day, I forgot a lot. So repetition will definitely be my best friend during this journey. I don’t really have a plan for tomorrow because tomorrow is the first day of school and I’m just trying to wind down until then because I have an 8am class and this is the most rest I’ll have for the next several months sadly. I guess I can briefly plan it right now! 

I think I’m going to hop back on the workbook because I don’t want to get too off track with that. I want to be fairly consistent. It really shapes my lesson plan to be honest. Also of course, I’ll do the Anki vocabulary deck and I’ll add to it based off the workbook. Maybe this time I’ll actually add a new deck? I don’t really know what the deck will consist of but hey! I’ll just wing it lol

Also, a side note! Since the beginning of the Spring semester is officially starting tomorrow I’m going to make it a new tasks every day to sit at my desk for lectures as well as homework and studying. Last semester, I totally neglected it. I did all my work from the bed no matter how uncomfortable it was. I want to start off with good habits. Pretty successful day! I once again didn’t wanna do any of my tasks but I just forced myself to do all of it. I figured out that I’m just a really lazy person who just needs to push themselves to get tasks done. Last night, I watched this Japanese movie with my favorite Japanese actor (so far). His name is Nijiro Murakami and I found out about him when watching the Netflix series Alice in Borderland (it’s AMAZING by the way. It’s all in Japanese and WHEW! its a rollercoaster each and every episode) but anyways I fell shamelessly in love with him (yikes. what am I a teen girl 😭) ANYWAYS, I said all this to say that lately Japanese has been looking really appealing to me. It sounds and looks really pretty too me. It’s just a very intimating language. Who knows! I may take it up in the future lol

My goals for tomorrow is gonna switch a little. I still am gonna do anki but I’m not gonna add to the vocab deck. Instead, I think I’m gonna practice conjugation. How? Probably by some free worksheets online and I think I’m gonna create a new anki deck with practice sentences so I can get more used to the form of Spanish. I also doubt I’m gonna do the workbook tomorrow. I think I’m gonna purely practice conjugation tomorrow, practice sentences, and go over a little anki (and who knows maybe I’ll try some light translations).

Already didn’t feel like doing spanish lol. I had to translate a paragraph into spanish and took so long and I didn’t have the vocab skills to do all that well. But on a lighter note, I made an Anki deck of Spanish Vocabulary. I think so far the plan is to review 25 cards a day as well as do two sections of my spanish workbook.

I’m hungry and I don’t want to cook or wait for my food nor do I want to clean up my room gahhh! Also don’t like my format of my entries so I’m gonna switch it up.

honestly? do things even if they don't have a point. even if they wouldn't benefit you in the long run. love drawing? take as much time as you want and draw. baking? swimming? reading about different types of frogs? writing fanfiction? do these things. even if they won't add to your "productivity" (and who even decided that being productive is working yourself to the point of exhaustion?) they will fill your heart with life

January study challenge // 11.01.2021 // how do you keep yourself focused? // i try to establish a routine so i have determined times to study and times to rest. whenever i'm feeling sluggish i either make myself some tea or i go for a walk, read some pages in a book, watch a short video on YouTube and after that: back to work. atm i use forest a lot because i like seeing how much i studied, this visual representation motivates me. and knowing that i have some fun activities planned for the evenings usually gets me through the days.

I think in this internet age it is vital to ask yourself if your consumption of media is helping you or harming you. Before you watch/read/listen to anything, ask yourself “Does this deserve my interest? Does this deserve my energy? Does this deserve my time?”. Most content might be free, but remember you are paying with your attention and your time, and they are as valuable as your money. I’m not trying to be self-righteous; if watching funny dog compilations is what you need at the moment, indulge! Just make sure you’re benefiting from using technology and not using it as self-harm.

100 Days of Productivity- Day 1: 21 Jan 2021

Hello!

I started this blog for accountability reasons. I wanted to try and do the 100 Days of Productivity challenge to better my habits within school and my personal life as well as learn a new skill. My main goals for this challenge is to study Spanish everyday and to get to a (low) conversational level, read text with ease, have decent/strong listening skills, and overall just find a study plan that works for me. So I may periodically switch up methods. During this challenge, I would also like to log on to this account every day and update what I got done and briefly write about how everything went. My last goal for this challenge is to get better at my school work and ‘adult life.’ I want to learn how to properly study for different subjects and get my work done (both in school as well as personal life) in a timely manner with little to no procrastination (because this will be a VERY hectic semester for me. Pray for me. WHEW!) I am still not exactly sure how I’m going to format this blog or my day to day routine so I guess that will be my next task to figure out. Join me in 100 day journey to learn a new hobby and better myself!
