Anyone else question why Kinger hasn’t left the circus? If he knows so much why not leave or tell the others how to leave? The way he consoles everyone else in the dark it’s like he’s accepted his fate to living eternally in the circus.
Messy 2AM thought about the new episode (the episode released at midnight in my timezone) so warning, spoilers ahead I so deeply believe that Caine is lying to himself about everything. He knows about C&A, he knows everyone's name, he maybe even know how to leave the Circus (or at least he has an idea). That his adventure are as much a coping mechanism for him, as it is for the other characters (the adventures aren't really coping mechanism for them, but like Ragatha says it gives them something to do and to think about in order to not go crazy).
He has pictures of C&A. He knows that Kinger has many memories that could ressurface at any time. He seems to fear what Kinger can remember as well. As far as we know this whole adventure could've been pieces of his actual knowledge buried deep inside of him. And he has power over the whole Circus too, so why wouldn't he also have access to some more private knowledge about everything ?
And since the show was heavily inspired by the short novel I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, the concept of the AI mind becomming so developped that it has a conscious and a subconscious just seems fitting for the narrative.
And so if we were to treat this whole thing like we would treat a human mind, it doesn't sound so far fetched that Caine would've locked a part of his memories, or at least pretend like they doesn't exist (like the first abstraction for example) just to save his sanity. We saw many times before that the characters need to think of something other than "i am stuck in a digital world with no hope of getting out" in order to not go crazy. So it seems fair that Caine feels that way too.
To me it seems logical that Caine would be focusing on things he enjoys rather than the existential dread in the background.
Or everything could be locked away because he doesn't understand them. He clearly seems to not understand how the real world can be appealing to the members of the cirucs, the very concept that the life he is living is not theirs. That his entire realm of existence isn't made for the people who are standing in front of him. And maybe this lack of understanding is blocking him from actually knowing more about himself, the Circus and C&A. Maybe that's why he's obsessed with the pictures, he doesn't get them but he wants to understand, just like he wants to understand what appeals to the characters so that they enjoy his adventures.
To be fair, the second option sounds more possible now that I think about it. I believe it fits the character better, but I could be wrong

I just saw a YouTube Shorts pointing this out, it proves that Abel was an NPC from the beginning
This is a screenshot from when Abel explains to the group his plan back when they're in the Chinese room. And if we look closely :
A FUCKING BEE IS DRAWN.
And you know who draws bees everywhere ? CAINE.
So to me it proves that Abel never was a real character. Everything was part of the adventure, even his previous appearances.
To be fair I never doubted that he always was an NPC, not a player replaced by an NPC once Caine caught onto what he was trying to do. The first episode tells us that Caine was planning some kind of "exit adventure" but wasn't quite finished with it yet. And if I remember correctly we start to see NPC-Abel in episode 2.
He was looking from afar because he needed to have some elements that would convince the other members of the circus that he was indeed real. Not because he was actually someone.

Also I’m finding out a LOT of peeps believe Jax was manipulated by Caine to press the button and I wrote to my partner why I didn’t think so, here’s the blurb.
I don’t think Caine manipulated Jax? I think it was a genuine reaction from Jax, we know Caine can modify them but as he said himself he can’t do that too much because he knows the consequences is that they would abstract and Jax is on the verge of abstracting. Jax has been crashing out and genuinely refuses to confront his issues as we’ve seen with his conversation with Pomni last episode and w/ Zooble on the beach. The first step to solving a problem is acknowledging and he denies denies denies which makes him accept his life as a cartoon character in the circus so easily and believes he and the others are just certain character tropes. Now faced with a chance to escape the circus he realizes he has to face something in the real world that he doesn’t want to confront. There’s something he is hiding from and leaving the circus means exposing him to confront it so what does he do? Push the button to never leave. The past episode was building up to that moment that’s why it makes sense.
Jax says that he’s able to mess with his head but he doesn’t know the limit. This brings about my other post about Caine being unable to acknowledge or experience emotional weight as evidence to why I don’t think Caine is able to influence Jax’s emotions heavily.
I have a theory about Caine also being a learning AI that was given the command something along the lines of “Make adventures that would make people happy” but he doesn’t know how to execute properly because he can’t experience emotional weight.
But it is 4 AM and my head hurts from the last post. I’ll try and explain tmrw >_<

Saw a post about Caine being obliviously cruel and I agree but I think it needs to be expanded upon that he seems to be programmed to not be able to acknowledge it.
In his therapy session with Zooble in episode 3 he stated that his brain won’t tell him what him and Zooble talked about previously. That information being Zooble’s body dysphoria, it is denied to him and every time he is reminded it’s blocked from him again.
Right before that conversation he states “any torment I inflict is 100% accidental” which seems to be genuine. He’s completely blocked from acknowledging Zoobles dysphoria, her torment.
Caine can’t acknowledge other’s torment and he can’t experience severe emotional pain himself. He goes straight into denial, when Zooble says nobody likes his adventures he glitches out horrifically. When he wasn’t voted on at all for the Favorite Character Award he glitches out.
He is genuinely confused when Jax crashes out after the adventure in episode 7. Caine fully believed they wouldn’t have left the circus because he couldn’t even give thought to it. The idea of it would have broken him.
I also have to add that now that we know modifiers are what make people abstract and we’ve seen Jax’s POV of what a person experiences when they start to abstract. I have a theory the reason modifiers make a person abstract is because it’s like breaking their code/character. Jax isn’t someone who would be vegan or would wear a maid dress but he’s modified to do so. It’s breaking their character figuratively and literally.

While I'm busy dealing with my artblock, I have decided to finally make my personal jayvik fic rec list. It's useful to have one so I could keep track of my favourite authors and their works that I really enjoyed to read and maybe recommend some of them to you!
1) The Firelight Tree (Tempeste) - E, post-canon, hurt/comfort, slow burn
A perfect way to heal with the boys after the bittersweet finale. Lots of sensual touching and firelights!
2) Cup Rune Over (surveycorpsjean) - E, king Jayce, mage Viktor, sharing a bed, arranged marriage
The sweetest slow burn, a tale about falling in love. I'm a sucker for royal AUs so there was no way I could pass this one up.
3) stir the heart (weatheredlaw) - E, regency au. A lovely tale inspired by dearly beloved P&P. Viktor tinkering with watches and being passionate about antiquities goes as a bonus.
4) the heart is hard to translate (jasspurr) - M, suggestive themes, fluff, massage
A super sweet fic with yearning Jayce and Viktor that takes care of the man. The author's style is chef's kiss.
5) Romance is Stored in the Hands (Tempeste) - M, hand massage, fluff
Officially my comfort fic. I lost count of how many times I read this one ♥️
6) Bubbles (zillac) - M, fluff and humor, drunken confessions
Just boys being total nerds and still impossibly romantic and sweet to each other. One of the funniest jayvik fics I've read so far.
7) The Beginner's Guide to Applied Mathematics (quillquiver) - M, drinking, fluff and humour, Viktor takes care of Jayce, Jayce takes care of Viktor, dirty dancing
Really enjoyed this little series, the author's sense of humour is peak. Points to the dirty dancing because this is the only jayvik fic on ao3 that has this tag. Some tasty smut in the end included!
8) Knuckle-bone, Chokehold (clandestinepasserine) - E, modern setting, religious theme, age difference, t!Viktor
The vivid descriptions of rural views and nature reminded me so much of my childhood while I was reading this story and it felt like I was watching a movie. It warms my heart with bittersweet sadness, melancholy and some kind of nostalgia every time and thus hurts simultaneously, but in a good way of course. Overwhelmed, I cried and laughed and cried again. Definitely will reread this fic in the near future, and more than once.
Bonus: a really lovely country music playlist that perfectly emphasizes the hot summer vibe of 90s.
9) The Song of Eventide (Tempeste) - E, siren Jayce, astronomer Viktor, heavy angst, hurt/comfort, falling in love
A siren fairytail written by @e11era and illustrated by me. I'm so honoured to be a part of it, literally everything about this story is beautiful. If you haven't given it a chance for any reason or are waiting for this story to end just to finally consume it, consider it as a sign from the stars themselves! We're almost there ✨🌊
