Types of Divination

ASTROLOGY is divination using celestial bodies: the sun, moon, planets, and stars.

CARTOMANCY is fortune telling using cards such as the Tarot.

CLAIRAUDIENCE is “clear hearing” of divinatory information. Parapsychologist generally regard as a form of extrasensory perception.

CLAIRVOYANCE is “clear seeing” of divinatory information. Parapsychologist generally regard as a form of extrasensory perception.

CRYSTALLOMANCY is divination through crystal gazing.

DOWSING or DIVINING RODS are methods of divination where a forked stick is used to locate water or precious minerals.

NUMEROLOGY is the numerical interpretation of numbers, dates, and the number value of letters.

OCULOMANCY is divination from a person’s eye.

PALMISTRY is the broad field of divination and interpretation of the lines and structure of the hand.

PRECOGNITION in an inner knowledge or sense of future events.

PSYCHOMETRY is the faculty of gaining impressions from a physical object and its history.

RADIESTHESIA is the general term for divination using a device such as a divining rod or pendulum. Other forms include “table tipping” which was practiced at the White House in the 19th century, the Ouija board, automatic writing (or superconscious writing), and scrying.

SCIOMANCY is divination using a spirit guide, a method generally employed by chanelers.

SCRYING is a general term for divination using a crystal, mirrors, bowls of water, ink, or flames to induce visions.

TASSEOGRAPHY is the reading of tea leaves that remain in a tea cup once the beverage has been drunk.

Unleash Your Power Potion

This is a good general-purpose spell and potion that lets you really bring out your best when you need it. Think job interview, important exam, or even launching a business. Try this spell when you need that inner energy boost.

Water

Pinches of ground allspice and ginger

Vanilla extract

A lemon

A white sheet of paper

A red marker

Red yarn or ribbon

Draw a large pentacle on the paper, and set your glass in the center. While it sits in place, add a little allspice and ginger to the water, along with 3 drops of vanilla extract. Slice the lemon in half and say this or something similar:

“By this potion, I do ask, Give me power for my task. Herbs and fruit and color red, Down this path, the spell is led.”

Squeeze the lemon juice into your glass. Wrap the red yarn around the glass a few times, and tie in a knot. Let the glass sit for a few minutes while you concentrate on the reason you’re doing this spell. Give your potion this energy, and then pick up the glass and take a drink. You don’t have to finish it all, just one good sip is fine.

Let it sit until the event you’re preparing for has passed. Then pour the remaining potion out into the Earth (not down the drain!).

Sigil Craft Week Three; Witchcraft For Gamers (Witcher)

Whether you’ve jumped on the hype train with Witcher 3; Wild Hunt or you’re a long-time fan of the Witcher franchise, Everyone can agree that these games are beautiful yet gritty fantasy worlds that we’ve all been enchanted by (and sometimes horrified by). Any seasoned fan will know that the Witcher’s cat eyes and silver swords aren’t the only weapons in his arsenal; The Witcher has a small collection of spells in his ability, which the order refer to as ‘Signs’. The designs are loosely based on the elements, and while playing Witcher 3 last night I thought to myself “Hey, these would make great sigils!”

So here I present to you the Signs of the Witcher games. The bullet point, taken from the Witcher 3 Wiki, states the in game function of the signs. Below that, I’ve written a short commentary on how I think you could adopt them into your everyday life as sigils.

Aard / Air

•“A telekinetic wave that can throw back, knock down or stun an opponent. This sign can also be used to destroy obstacles, for example crumbling walls or stacks of barrels.”

This sigil would work great for use in a spell, or by itself, that deals with countering magical attack. You could use it to blast down obstacles in your life, stubborn people or stubborn situations. Aard could also be used to shock someone into seeing the error of their ways, as a sort of wakeup call.

Igni / Fire

•“A gush of flames that wound opponents. When upgraded, the sign has a chance of incinerating opponents and has a larger area of effect. It can also be used to detonate flammable gases emitted by some bombs.”

Igni could be used in any situation that you really need to ignite the element of fire. To heat up a relationship, to put passion into a drawing; even written on an old lighter to help the flame fire up. In the kitchen, you could stir the shape of igni into a pot of food to keep it warm, or to spice up a certain dish.

Yrden / Magic

•“A magical trap placed on the ground, which will wound and immobilize opponents.”

Yrden is perfect for use in binding spells. It can also be used to contain energy; You may inscribe Yrden on the four pillar candles you use for a ritual circle. Yrden can also be used to lure and trap negative energy. (I’ve done this in a bottle before and it works nicely!)

Quen  / Earth

 •“A protective shield that lasts for 30 seconds at the sign’s basic level. It is a sign that Geralt uses on himself – quen absorbs all damage directed at Geralt.”

Quen has one of the most obvious uses; a physical, emotional and magical protective shield. Draw Quen on a necklace or the inside of your arm, and touch it when you feel you need it. Imagine yourself surrounded by a strong earthen bubble.

Axii / Water

•“A charm placed on an opponent. If the charm attempt is successful, the enemy will become your ally for a short while, fighting at your side.”

Axii can be used in getting people to see things you way. If you’ve had an argument with a friend, incorporate Axii into your friendship spell to let them see that you’re sorry. Axii can win people over, change opinions and gather support; just take care to use it without being too forceful.

Moon Stone

Moon Stone - It is strongly associated with the Moon and it’s energy gets more powerful when the full Moon is shining in the sky. It’s meant as lover’s stone and brings peace in relationships, also helps to see the future and can bring a good fortune. Can help with hidden talants, opens the mind to hope and wish, inspiration and impulse. It can’t be useful for the person, whose character is quite strict and rough.

Moonstone is used by healers to stimulate the functioning of the pineal gland and balance internal hormone cycles, also powerfully affects the female reproductive system.

Honey - Magic and Medicinal Uses

Honey is quite an amazing little substance, i often find myself using it my work ( seriously i have a 5 pound jar of it below my altar thats how much i use it). Honey is the general term used for the sweet nectar that bees gather and bring back to their colony for sustenance. (properly obtained honey doesn’t harm the bees at all) Collected around The late summer and early fall, honey is a common and staple crop in many parts of the world.

Magikal Uses- Honey has a handful of Magikal proprieties, uses  and distinct energies. the energies vary depending on which strain of honey you are working with. but overall i would describe them as positive, cleansing, gentle, soothing and warming. its great for spells, offerings and brews

honey makes an acceptable offering for deities,

 it can be kept on your altar i keep some on my altar to remind me that amongst the seemingly overwhelming bitterness of everyday life that sweetness can be found.

can be used in things involving Love, lust or sexuality

health and healing

community or communication

abundance and prosperity 

used as a bonding agent in spells,(i find this nice because if you ever need to undo the spell, honey doesn’t permanently solidifies so whats bonded together can be unbound)  

spirituality

candle magic (for anointing  or beeswax candles)

honey can be used to represent wisdom, because gathering honey from hives can be difficult and painful if done incorrectly so it became a metaphor for obtaining knowledge through pain

Honey has a long medicinal history - it will help with allergies  if you eat a teaspoon of locally sourced honey each day. (buying local honey is great way to support your community and local agriculture) it is a natural immunity booster and has antibacterial properties, which is why it is good for soar throats.  if you Shop around for honey you will see a wide range of hues, some are lighter, others are darker. overall, the darker the honey, the better its antibacterial and antioxidant power

there is a MAJOR difference between natural raw unpasteurized honey, and most store bought honey.  Most commercial honey has no traces of pollen and lacks beneficial vitamins and enzymes among a host of other natural constituents which are removed due to pasteurization and processing.
