Ah, welcome. My name is Jin and I am the doctor here in Choral Clinic. Please be sure to take care of yourself. I wouldn't want to see you come here too often. [[ HMMasterList Member ]]
*Limps into the clinic, foot still throbbing in his boot. He's all dirty from work and even more so than usual because he tried to continue working even with his injury. Waving at Irene, he smiled weakly and raised up his hand in a wave.* Hey, is Jin not busy right now? It's... kinda an emergency.
*Is in the back room reviewing some papers at a desk when he suddenly hears Irene call for him*
Jin! Come in here, quickly!
*Immediately stands up from his seat and rushes to the front room of the Clinic, blinking once he opened the door* Yes, Irene? What is— Oh, hello Kasey. Are you in need of—
He was limping, Jin. Says it’s an emergency.
*Blinks and looks over at Irene, who’s waving her hand in a way to beckon him to take care of Kasey immediately with a serious expression* ..? Limping?
*Closes the door behind him and quickly walks up to Kasey, noticing he’s covered in dirt and stains* What has happened? Did you injure your foot or leg while working?
*Walks into the clinic, immediately greeted by a gust of cool air from the building. Glad to know there's actually air conditioning, he's able to wait for someone a little more patiently*
*Is in the backroom jotting down some notes at one of the tables when he hears the bells above the front door jingle* Hold on, be right with you…
*he mumbles and quickly writes the last of his notes before setting down his pen and walking over to the backdoor, opening it and walking out* Ah. Good day, Gill.
*Walks up to him with his hands behind his back* Are you in need of anything?
*Thinks for a moment for an answer to his question, other than just an excuse to take advantage of the air conditioned office* Hm, well, I’ve got to be in good health, after all, and this humidity has been making breathing a bit difficult lately… If that’s a proper reason to give you.
*Nods at his response and reaches for his stethoscope, putting it around his neck* I see no issues with it. If you'd sit down on the bed, I'll get started right away. *Slides over to the bed on his wheeled stool* Height and weight, please.
I've seen your name pronounced two ways. How do you prefer? Like Gene or Gin (the drink)?
I’ve also heard my name pronounced both ways as well, but I was always more fond of the “Gin” pronunciation. Of course, with the ‘g’ having more of a ‘j’ sound. Rolls off the tongue better, doesn’t it?
Are there any rules you follow for a successful relationship?
Rules you say? I feel like you’re attempting to reference something with that, but I can’t put my finger on what…
[Clears his throat.]
But yes. Though they’re more of guidelines and personal ideals more than ‘rules’. Having been in one myself at one point that went quite fantastic, well. Communication and acceptance are key. Tell each other what needs to be said, whether you understand or not, and don’t leave important details out. Also be accepting of the other. You cannot love without acceptance— at least, not love for long.
[Pushes up his glasses and hums.]
I do have others, but I don’t consider them as important as those two. At least, they weren’t as important for my last relationship.
Nami’s dance partner faltered for a half-second, and it almost made her misstep, too- especially in those shoes. Seriously, if she’d just foregone the dress code and worn converses or something… But Jin recovered quickly, allowing Nami to remain stable.
Despite her reservations about the whole dancing thing, it was actually pretty fun. She was enjoying herself.
"Oh, cool," she replied, twirling. "What’s it like in Castanet? Nice, I bet."
Thankfully Nami hadn't badly stumbled after he caught his foot. Consider that a crisis averted.
"Very," Jin began, closing his eyes to try and figure out how to describe his home. "It's a small island and I live in it's town of Harmonica, but it's brimming with nature all over. There's a large mountain perfect for those who enjoy mining and exploring, and I even hear somebody lives on top of it, but it's a mere rumor. I haven't seen them for myself. There's also a forest that's nice for taking walks through. The people living on the island are all nice people too. It's a nice change from what I'm used to in the city."
"Hope you’ll find her in time before she vanished," Pete added.
The young man shuddered when he felt the cold metal pressed on back. He wouldn’t be accustomed to that. He complied to the doctor then breathed slowly. Once it was over, he put his clothes on.
"No allergies," He answered, "Health issues well… I suffer from heat exhaustion during Summer and I suffer from mild depression or anxiety."
Though Jin didn't respond verbally to his first words, he simply nodded in response.
As the other man answered his question, the doctor stopped writing and tapped his clipboard with the end of the pen. "Hmm. I see," he mumbled, thinking. Stopping the tapping, he quickly jotted a few more notes down before setting the clipboard down and crossing his arms. "Mmkay. First of all, are you taking any type of medication for that anxiety or depression, or would you like to start taking any..? If you don't wish to for any reason, that's fine. I'd just like to be sure," Jin began, giving the man his attention.
"Other than that, you seem to only have mere low blood pressure. I would recommend taking a day off tomorrow to rest and relax, as well as the rest of today. By the next day after tomorrow, you can start doing what it is you need to be doing again."
Peter inched into the building and gently closed the door behind him. He looked at the man with curiosity. Though, truthfully, Peter would probably show curiosity to anyone and anything in town. He didn’t know many doctors, unless Anna counted as a doctor. She was probably the best the village could possibly get, doctor or not. At least, Peter thought of her as a doctor. Peter tried to help his father the same way Anna helped people in town. His scoldings were not as harsh, though.
This man did not wear a pink dress like Anna, but he seemed very professional. He looked a bit like Shinji with the dark hair and white coat, and Shinji was good with children, but his face and aura drastically differed. Peter had never seen a man with such long hair, but he didn’t know many women with hair that long, either.
"I’m Peter," he said. He was a bit annoyed to be addressed as "young one," but it was not too bad, and Peter remembered that the man must have been much older than him. He seemed very kind, too. "I was actually just wandering around… Oh, but medicine would probably come in handy!" Peter added that last bit as an afterthought; he wanted to make sure his father took care of himself, even if his father was perfectly capable. Peter wondered if he had enough money with him, if at all. He always went shopping in the other village.
"Ah, Peter is it?" Jin repeated as he tilted his head just a tad bit. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Peter. I'm Jin," he greeted before he stood up and straightened his body. As the boy explained what he was doing here, the doctor nodded. So he was just merely wandering around and didn't actually come for any medicine. Well that was all right--
Or, well, with the boy's last comment, he'd actually take some medicine. That'd be good, honestly. Whether he truly needed it or not, having extra medicine on hand was always a good idea, just in case. Raising one hand up, he rested it on his chin and hummed. "Having extra medicine is always handy. Well! If that's the case, is there any kind of medicine you'd like in particular? Currently in stock, we have ones like Cold Medicine, Remedy, Bodigizer..."
...Actually that was kind of it. Having just come home and from the news he heard from Irene, there was currently an... issue going on with the island. The land wasn't as healthy as it was before, the wind just wasn't blowing, fires were weak and refused to grow stronger... The waters seemed to have calmed some however, which was good. After all, if it hadn't the boat he arrived on wouldn't have been able to bring him over...
Er, enough of that. Irene and him also had a lack of Potana Roots to make extra medicine with, so they were a little... low on them. "...That's about it, honestly. Would you need any of them?"
Goodness, yes... The weather forecast mentioned it would be about 80% humidity today. *Grabs his shirt and lightly tugs it* I'm thankful Irene installed some air conditioners in here. Working in high humidity in clothes like these without cooling would make it more troublesome.
All right, thank you. Go ahead and take a seat on the bed there. *Goes to his desk and grabs the clipboard off of it* So, just a regular health check up, correct? *Looks over at Gill* Any reason you decided to have one this day? Have any concerns or anything like that?
Of course check-ups wouldn’t take long. It was like second nature to him. Early in morning, there were chances Trent and Elli would arrive his homestead 6 AM sharp for his weekly check-up. He complied to the doctor’s orders while he watched either Trent or Elli.
He showed his arm then let the doctor work his magic. “I think she’s still around,” He added, “Not certain though.”
Low blood pressure huh? It’s… not that bad.
Take his shirt off? That threw him off. Nevertheless, he didn’t complained as he took off his sweatshirt along with his t-shirt underneath.
"Wait, really?" Hearing that the woman might still be around was enough for him to hope. Blowfish were very deadly when eaten incorrectly, and as a doctor he truly wanted to thank her for, honestly, saving them. "I'll hold onto the hope that she will be and look around in a bit," Jin mumbled.
As the other began to remove his shirt, the doctor put down his clipboard on the ground next to him and reached for his stethoscope, putting the buds back in his ears. "I'm going to check your heart rate, so I'll need you to take several deep breaths," Jin told him as he scooted his stool closer. Putting the diaphragm on the upper left of his back, he carefully listened before sliding it to another area on his back, then the front left of his chest. Once finished, Jin scooted back, let the tool hang around his neck again, then grabbed for his clipboard. "You may put them back on," he told him, jotting down some notes quickly.
"Do you have any allergies or health issues at all?" Jin asked, lowering the clipboard.
It wasn’t the first time Peter got “lost.” His father must have wandered off since there was nothing to do in the town. Nothing to hunt, that is. There weren’t that many monsters around here, actually, which was a bit odd. Peter didn’t want to go hunting anyway, so he stayed in the town, which was colorful and lively, very unlike the village they were before.
Peter was actually very nervous to be in such an unfamiliar place. He could very easily get lost for real, and that wouldn’t be so great. He half expected for his father to jump out from nowhere to get him, whether he was lost or “lost.” Peter didn’t want that, though, because his dad was embarrassing when he did that. Or much anything, really.
He looked around the town; it was very small. He climbed up a few staircases here and there, just exploring and playing with animals and things like that. He stopped in front of the Choral Clinic. For some reason, everything in the town was thematically named and they all had to do with music and the ocean. At any rate, some man just went in there and the door was unlocked. Peter took a peek inside…
He jumped as he was immediately welcomed. “Who’s Irene?” he cheeped.
Though the visitor was unfamiliar to the doctor, Jin didn't pay it much mind. He noticed that throughout the years he had visited Castanet, people had come and go, so he was still trying to learn faces and names. It didn't surprise him much either that he was a young and came in alone. They had some younger children around here as well and they'd always walk around the town and farms. One of them even enjoyed exploring the mines. (Though he found that quite dangerous for a child to be doing.) In the end though, the area was safe enough for kids to be walking around unattended, as long as they were careful.
"Mm, Irene is my grandmother. I'm the doctor of this clinic, while she works as the nurse here," Jin answered the child as he pushed up his glasses. Well, he doubted the boy came for a check up, so he'd skip that question. Instead, he walked over to the boy and bent over a little, putting his hands on his knees for support.
"So who might you be, young one- and what brings you here? Did someone ask you to get some medicine from here?" He asked with a small smile.
What is your opinion on technology and how reliant on it are you? Would you ever want more updated technology to help you with your job?
…Having lived in both Asia and America, it was hard not to avoid any means of technology. Absolutely everywhere. I can’t complain though, as I hold a rather positive view of it. I rather enjoy the television myself with the occasional arcade game, and we use it within my field of career. I wouldn’t consider myself too reliant, but just reliant enough.
But perhaps. Updated technology may very well be useful within the medical field, but there are potential dangers to think about and consider. I’d be content with what I use for now, but the future may hold different.
That being said, I'm pretty happy with the level of technology use Castanet has. It's not too little, but not too much, and I think we're fine like that.
"You told me to use that if I saw you sleeping while you’re studying.”
A teenage Jin let out a heavy sigh as he sat on his chair, taking in deep breaths in an attempt to calm himself while clutching his chest. Visiting his grandmother on Castanet for the summer, his high school may have been out for the summer but that didn’t mean he’d neglect his studies. Stepping onto the island with a small stack of books, Jin spent a little bit of each day reading through his books.
The night before this current day though, he had a bit of difficulty sleeping and was suffering the consequences of a lack of sleep during the day. He wanted to get his studying done though. In an attempt to do that, he had asked Irene to wake him if he fell asleep at his desk. Knowing he wasn’t the lightest of sleepers at times, she had asked him if he had any preferences on how to be woken up, to which he merely replied with any technique, even if she had to use an air horn.
Which led to his current situation.
"I said that as small humor! I didn’t actually think you’d use it!” Jin responded, leaning back. In response, Irene merely shook her head then looked him directly in the eye.
"Jin, I doubt you’ve forgotten how your ol’ grandmother is like. When I get told to use something for a situation like this, I will use it,” she told him. Moving his head to be able to look at her, the boy met her gaze and let out another sigh. He didn’t forget that she was like that, he was just hoping she would… pass his ‘recommendation’ off and use another means to wake him. Obviously that was asking for too much.
"…Even so, why couldn’t you have used a more normal means? Like shake me or similar! What grandmother uses an air horn to wake their grandchild? Much more, about a mere foot away from them?” He groaned, dropping his head back. Irene walked up to him with her head down, still shaking her head.
"Tsk tsk. I don’t see why you’re complaining. You’re awake now, right? Isn’t that what you wanted?" Irene questioned. Unbelieving of his grandmother, Jin brought his hand up and dropped his palm on his forehead.
"Irene, it’s because you nearly gave me a heart attack!”
Good day, everyone. Sorry for being late to the festival, there was a hold up at th-

"I guess so," Nami replied. She was getting used to the footwork, which allowed her to focus a bit more on the conversation. "I started out moving around a lot, but Forget-Me-Not kind of stuck with me. The scenery is nice, and I guess I got attached to some of the people there, so…"
She shrugged and paused for a bit, listening to the music and enjoying the feeling of actually dancing. It was a whole lot more complicated than how it looked from the wall, but also a lot more fun.
"So," she said, "I assume you’re from Castanet, then? What do you do there?"
Jin listened to Nami speak, giving a nod as she finished. "I understand. It gets underlooked sometimes, but people do count towards the beauty of a town," he replied. He felt the same way about Castanet.
Once the silence came, Jin welcomed it, enjoying the music. He wasn't the most enthusiastic person when it came to dancing, nor did he consider himself much of one, but he still found this amusing, even with a stranger. It still made him incredibly nervous, and his racing heart had only ceased its speed slightly, but he kept calm.
...Even when his foot caught on the floor and nearly stumbled.
"Ah, y-yes, I am," Jin responded quickly once he regained his composure and footing. Clearing his throat, he continued. "I work as the town's personal doctor. Admittedly, I'm still new as I just recently moved there not too long ago, but it's still good work."

*Walks up to him with his hands behind his back* Are you in need of anything?
*Nods politely when he’s greeted, relieved he didn’t have to wait too long as there’s work to be done* Yes, I am. The heat is dreadful lately and I’ve decided it’d be a good idea to be sure that despite this heat, I’ll still be in good health. You can manage an examination at this time, yes?
I see. The heat has been rather uncomfortable today... *Gives it a quick thought before nodding*
If you are in need of an examination, I'd be more than wiling to provide you one. If you'd please follow me into the examination room, we can get started immediately. *Walks into the room on the left and beckons him over*
