Named after the Elven Goddess of the Emerald City, Smaragdi Feyda, the continent of Maraga Keskusta was established in the year 1693 by a fleeing Elven population. Thousand of elves had escaped their homeland of Nartinia, which had been at war since the year 1690. The name 'Maraga Keskusta' roughly translates to “the center emerald” in old world Finnish language. The name Nartinia translates to "guiding starlight" in OldeWord, the ancient language of the Nartinian High Elves.
In 1692, the first bit of land that was discovered and settled upon by the Nartinian natives was the District of Callen Falls. Maraga was established as a continent roughly one year later, in 1693. Named for the waterfall and river running through the main village, Callen Falls is also well-known for being the only Elven District to make use of human technology: it's powered by water mill.
The majority of elves settled here or one of two other villages that came to be known as Vineturn and Hyvale. They made an effort not to spread too far into the land past what they felt was viable. They were in search of farmland, resources, green, lush leaves, abundance, air, water, LIFE. The Nartinian Elves had experienced enough loss, therefore moved cautiously and accordingly.
As the years went on, the elves began to flourish alongside the others who had begun creating their own settlements surrounding the steadily growing Elven shires. As you can see, development moved quickly once word was out that the land of Maraga Keskusta was both habitable and profitable.
