Went on a little "fuck it" rout but back here again I guess
Alexi drawing I did last summer and was too afraid to post at the time
Heavily inspired by @pipartuuli style <3 cuz alas I have none of my own
I love Sherlock Holmes, from ACD cannon to niche Sherlock Holmes as a dog anime. But I hate BBC Sherlock. Operating on tumblr is like being a solider in guerrilla warfare. It’s everywhere, I have to watch my every step. They’ll find me. They’re hunting me. Them and their terrible execution of a beloved character.
Sharing some of the more recent sketches cause they're lowkey fine and i'm highkey back into my lifelong hyperfixation on this fandom with the help of my favorite childhood series and Victor Evgrafov's awesome portrayal of Prof. Moriarty
Also don't mind the text in brackets, i simply wanted to estimate the time I've spent on each piece with the albums i've been listening to (spoiler: i'm slow af)
[And since you guys are mostly English speaking: the 1st piece text says "conceptually", which means nothing basically, i was just goofing around. The 3rd sketch uses a phrase from the movie delivered by Holmes in the depicted scene - "Throw your knife away, I'm unarmed!" and alters it to - "Throw your Krebs cycle away, I'm unarmed"(which is just an inside joke)]
When once in a while 3 am hits you with this kinda mood:
Those are some old wonky sketches and doodles from the time when i absolutely couldn't draw (I still can't), but I guess I'll share
[The 3rd image is saying something like "drenk a toad", the 4th i can only translate to "prostrate yourselves, those of little faith"]
A Case of Identity
After refusing any payment from the King of Bohemia, beside the very handsome initial thousand pounds, Holmes discloses these subsequently acquired gifts in a very show-offy manner:
He held out his snuffbox of old gold, with a great amethyst in the centre of the lid. Its splendour was in such contrast to his homely ways and simple life that I could not help commenting upon it. “Ah,” said he, “I forgot that I had not seen you for some weeks. It is a little souvenir from the King of Bohemia in return for my assistance in the case of the Irene Adler papers.” “And the ring?” I asked, glancing at a remarkable brilliant which sparkled upon his finger.”
The scene feels staged to the extreme. Holmes, unlike his brother, is never mentioned to take snuff, and doesn’t even do so while presenting his ostentatious gift to Watson!

It always seemed like a ridiculous and weird bit to me, like, Holmes isn't portrayed as a man who would enjoy fancy jewelry and other shiny things. But even if he does, we never see Watson mention it in any other stories, and if this ever happened again I'm pretty sure he would, considering how many times we encounter the description of Holmes' fingers 🥴🥴🥴
I've been really enjoying watching Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes, and this clip is a great illustration of why - even in a shot where the focus isn't on him, his reactions are fantastic.
The bemused delight and pride at Watson for asking all the right questions, then the kind of smouldering look that launches a thousand Holmes/Watson ships, and then the sudden snap back into focus.
I was bewildered, shocked and astonished when I first saw this in the original episode. I don't have a heteronormative explanation for this gaze and neither do you, don't lie to yourself.
what drove sherlock to thinking john is a man of action
based on this lovely pic from granada holmes as a stageplay
loving how brett holmes is so much more suave i just love pining sherlock headcannon okayy 😫😫😫
