This is a combination of two of my previous plot-bunies. One of them was only published on discord.

Edmund always said that Penelope would one day become a Bridgerton. Anthony usually rolled his eyes at these words. Penelope had a special place in the man's heart. One day Eloise came to him crying because she found out that her best friend never got a present for her birthday. Unfortunately, he couldn't tell Portia how she should raise her daughter. So he did what he does on each of his children's birthdays. He gave Penelope a present carved by his own hands.

A few months later, when Penelope was staying at Bridgerton House, she sneaked into Hyacinth's bedroom (on her birthday). She couldn't stand that any of Edmund Bridgerton's children would never get a present carved by his hands. She sat down by the youngest Bridgerton's crib and after sharing her story, she put the toy in the girl's crib. That day Anthony Bridgerton decided to check his youngest sister and overheard Penelope's private confession. He suddenly remembered how his father always said that Penelope would one day become a Bridgerton. And for the first, but not the last time, he thought that he wouldn't mind it.

It is not surprising that he was absolutely furious when his brother announced his unexpected engagement to Marina Tomphson. At first, somewhat resigned, he accepted that if not Colin, then he would have to make Penelope an official Bridgerton. And then he found out about LW and discovered that marrying Penelope seemed like a tempting vision. However, he must first take his younger brother's place in her heart.
