A bit of a heads-up to my fellow Rogue One creators who’ve recently reposted the creator 6b4tree: She’s a massive transphobe whose blog is full of TERF rhetoric. She also supports JKR and even has a couple reposts that disgustingly try to use the Neil Gaiman allegations (which I do 100% believe, before any of her mutuals who happen across this post try to accuse me of being a fan of his) to point fingers at people who’ve called out JKR for her transphobia.

Being mad at Nolan for not casting Greek actors: normal, justified, valid and I agree and most of the castings are ass bc they were focusing on star power rather than casting actors who fit the characters.

Being mad at Zendaya and Lupita Nyong'o bc they’re black but taking no issue with the white actors who aren’t even Greek or even Mediterranean at all: racist and weird, at least Lupita Nyong'o is insanely gorgeous which justifies casting her as Helen, why tf is Tom Holland Telemachus?

The African continent is part of the Mediterranean world, ancient and modern, particularly the north amd west coasts.

Do people think black Africans were invented for the trans-Atlantic slave trade? They have always been there. Their faces have been part of history and myth from time immemorial.

I don't know anything about Nolan's version of The Odyssey but if you think black people weren't in ancient Greece, you lack a basic understanding of world geography.

Speaking from my own perspective on this as a Greek American, I’ve had racist Greek nationalists get mad at me for saying that the inclusion of people of color in the cast doesn’t bother me nearly as much as the lack of authentic Greek representation overall. It’s one thing to hear that crap from anti-SJWs who love to fetishize the ancient Greeks and Romans, but don’t have a drop of Mediterranean blood in their body and get most of their ideas of ancient Mediterraneans from whitewashed Hollywood blockbusters. It’s quite another to hear it from the very people who theoretically should be the most bothered by Hollywood continuing to act like because Greece is in Europe, it therefore is a “white” country and they can just cast any random white actor in a Greek mythology adaptation. Sure, white Greeks do exist; I’m a great example of that because I’m as pale as they’ve come. But we’ve had interactions with parts of the Mediterranean that are predominantly populated by people of color (including Africa, BTW!), so this obsession with treating our people as 100% white is ridiculous. Even the myths explicitly acknowledge Black people from time to time. As an example, Andromeda is from Ethiopia and is described as dark-skinned by quite a few ancient sources. Doesn’t really sound like a white woman, if you ask me!

I just wanted to say to everyone in the “Tony can do no wrong” crowd in the Andor fandom that you have no business using Gareth’s recent comments about AI as a gotcha moment. I know I can’t speak for all OG Rogue One fans, but I can acknowledge that there are problematic aspects of Gareth’s work (e.g. Chirrut being a disabled magical minority whose actor isn’t even blind in real life; or The Creator attempting to be an anti-war movie that uses AI as an allegory for genocide victims and is also weirdly racist toward Asians). Meanwhile, you guys are constantly speaking over people, even within your own fandom, who’ve tried to point out issues in Andor, such as its flawed representation of Latinos, the fact its Latina-coded heroine constantly has her agency being taken away from her with only a few exceptions, and its decision to kill off a queer woman of color for shock value and to give her white girlfriend character motivation that’s mostly glossed over in succeeding episodes. Believe it or not, I LOVE Andor, alongside Rogue One. But that doesn’t mean we owe these white dudes our endless praise just because they made things we love

Shippers get a lot of lashings for being annoying and “forcing romance” but not enough is being said about people who force the nuclear family structure on everything. Nothing against found families, but the amount of people who seem to cram every dynamic into a cookie cutter nuclear family mold is driving me insane. It’s another lowkey reductive way of engaging with characters that pretends to less reductive than the shippers they constantly complain about. Not every relationship can be categorized as “sibling coded” or “father-daughter” because most relationships are more complicated than that. Don’t even get me started on the way these people use “coding” *cough* their headcanons *cough* to shut down ships they dislike.

Thought I'd start sharing some content related to an original novel I'm working on called The Dominion: Genesis. I'll probably get more into it in future posts, but basically, it's a new adult science fiction adventure set in the year 3000.

Anyway, with my own religious upbringing and everything going on with the current Trump administration, I've been pretty passionate about speaking out against Christian nationalism and fundamentalism and religious abuse in recent years, so one of my characters, Audrey, has a storyline that deals with those themes. This particular drawing I made yesterday is of her cousin's husband, Jordan, and his band, Remember the Name. Jordan is basically one of the few safe spaces Audrey has in her life, and he and his bandmates end up making a habit of publicly speaking out against the church where Audrey's grandfather is the pastor.

Remember the Name is essentially a progressive Christian rock band who write both secular and religious songs about mental health and politics. Jordan is the lead singer and guitarist: Kainoa is the bassist; Leroy is the rhythm guitarist; James and Jen, who are a married couple, play percussion and keyboard, respectively; and Mack plays drums.

Also, fun fact: they're all queer! Jordan, James, and Jen, though all in opposite-sex marriages, are all bisexual; Kainoa is omnisexual and dating a non-binary partner who uses neopronouns (though I'm still working out his partner's name and pronouns); Leroy is gay and has a boyfriend named Kevin; and Mack is a non-binary lesbian who uses they/them pronouns and is engaged to a bisexual trans woman named Skye

This one is basically what it sounds like: It's an overly long summary of my Star Wars headcanon, split up into sections based on where they take place on the Star Wars timeline. Long story short, I love aspects of both Legends and Disney canon and don't entirely enjoy either continuity on its own, so I go with a giant hodgepodge of a headcanon instead. And it's nice, given how little regard Star Wars often gives for continuity! I've only gotten through ROTS so far, but I'm planning to eventually go through TROS, which is where the Star Wars story ends for me

This one is basically the Ghorman Massacre from Galen and Jyn Erso's perspective, plus with a little RebelCaptain epilogue at the end. Now would also be a good time to point out that pretty much every Star Wars fic I write is set in my headcanon, so if you're wondering about all the Legends references and the instances where I diverge from the source material, that's why. I also know Andor is a pretty divisive topic in the RebelCaptain fandom and for good reason. I'm not even going to try justifying why I like the show. All I'll say is that it's a problematic fave, kind of like Star Wars in general. All that I ask is that if any of this is not your cup of tea, please just ignore this fic and move on with your day. I really cannot deal with hate right now. And if it's any consolation, I am absolutely trying to go with what was allegedly the pre-Gilroy version of Rogue One

This one follows Jaina and Anakin Solo at the end of my headcanon's version of the sequel trilogy. I'll admit parts of it probably aren't going to make sense until I get to the sequel era part of my headcanon summary, but I hope y'all at least enjoy what's being presented. I was also inspired to write this after watching a Jessie Gender video, and it's one of my first times trying to consciously incorporate political discussion in my fiction writing, so sorry if it's not perfect
