Lancome Grandiose Mascara Review
I'm the type of girl who has no less than 10 different mascaras in her makeup bag at any given time. I buy the Sephora Lash Stash holiday collection every year and cannot be trusted to go into Duane Reade, Rite Aid, or any beauty store to "pick up a few things" without walking out with a new mascara to try or lust after (until I do in fact buy it on my next visit...)
I recognize that I have a problem. My name is Meagan Murphy and I'm a lash diva / mascara addict.
Now, the funny thing is, I don't even wear mascara very often. Most days I just curl my lashes, swipe on some clear mascara and I'm out the door. I'm lucky enough to have naturally long, full lashes, so I try avoiding products as often as possible and save my coveted mascaras for nights out or special occasions. Who saves mascara?! I'm weird, I know.
When I do wear my pride and joy, I'm constantly stopped or asked by women where I get my lashes done, or what mascara I use. I take pride in the fact that my lashes are so full and would say that my eyes are definitely my most favorite feature. When it comes to eyes, I just can't get enough. Sure, I love lipsticks and bronzers and shadows galore, but a good pair of lashes is all I think anyone really needs to master a care-free, classic beauty look.
Bad lashes can also be what completely shatters a look. I shudder at the thought of spider eyes and clumpy, un-combed-through mascara. Coining myself a lash connoisseur, I’m more than happy to divulge as much as possible with you to avoid this mascara blunder for good!
When it comes to superior lash technology, I have discovered a true game-changer. Like a true beauty nerd, I've read about the new Lancôme Grandiose mascara for months. Apparently it took more than three years to design the patent "swan-neck" wand which boasts limited smudging, clumping or messes. They also have perfected their formula, so your mascara tube can last longer than the usual 3-month expiration date AND they boast that they’re the only formula with rose-cell extract, so your lashes remain soft and supple. This is something I truly appreciate, since I like to condition my lashes as much as possible, to keep them as full and long as ever. Needless to say, I was extremely impressed with this from the get-go.
Now, before we even get into the actual product effectiveness, can we just take a moment and appreciate how beautiful this bottle is?
It has a smoky glass-like top, with a black rose floating inside, reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast. Really, beautiful details and that is before you even open the darn thing.
When it came to actually wearing the mascara, I must say, it upheld every claim. I pay extreme attention to detail and often get annoyed because I usually get mascara all over my eye lids, in addition to my lashes. The positioning of this wand and its unique, bent shape had me apply the mascara very easily and it grants itself to a natural curl, so it really made the application mess-free! I love the very black, pigmented color and gloss of the actual formula and think it looks just bold enough to wear alone, or layer a few coats for extra volume and drama.
I’m not one to commit to one, particular brand of mascara, because let’s face it; if you have not guessed by now, let me reiterate that I am utterly obsessed with trying new things (especially for my lashes); but I must declare, Lancôme Grandiose has won a place in my makeup bag for years to come! I guarantee it will be a staple in many makeup artists’ bags and celebrity favorites, as well (you heard it here first)! If for nothing else, the sheer brilliance of the innovation and new way of thinking about mascara designs.
What’s your favorite mascara? Is it a new brand or cult classic?
