like it’s outright stated in the official comic that she’s on the “spectrum” aka the austism spectrum (bc what other spectrum could she be referring to?? one that makes her “different”, unable to mesh well with other people in a formal setting but excelling at a specific academia, that makes her love order????)

like it isn’t “implied”, she confirms it. she’s come to terms with it after being ridiculed for it and has learned to embrace it, since it’s the reason why she’s one of the best at hard light manipulation

For those who were scrambling for a source like I was, I think I found the answer!

It wasn’t Blizzard, per se, but it was the writer of the comic, Andrew Robinson.

Both Tweets thanking him about the autism representation, and him calling it a privilege to write for the officially-sanctioned comic.

It’s canon. It’s confirmed canon. Symmetra is canonically autistic, I’m beside myself right now, oh my gosh.

Imagine that Person A has trouble sleeping without Person B beside them, and that B has been away for a few days. Once B finally returns and they cuddle up in bed for the night, a rather sleep-deprived A falls asleep in seconds, the warmth of Person B and the smell of their skin the most soothing thing in the world to A.

Bonus points if, before they went to bed, A was super grouchy and kinda mad at B, because B being away meant that A got very little sleep. But then A turned into a giant cuddle monster as soon as their head hit the pillow.
