“Beacons…?” Even if it was a thing of the past, it couldn’t help but pique his curiosity - just what exactly did they do? Overall, it was a good thing that this seemed to get information about the others. He was tempted to suggest them to try again; because maybe it could help bring in the crowd they were looking for.  His focus had switched back to Haruka’s conversation, they could plan things out later, right now he’d rather hear Haruka’s words. “I’ve been here for about a few days.” He paused, asking the question he was itching to ask now that it was confirmed that Haruka had been on the island longer than him. “…How long have you been here, Haruka?”

“Since the very start of it all, Hijirikawa-san. And then in the other city for quite some time too.” At this point, she was simply tired of all the turbulence. No matter how nice the people she ran into managed to be, she couldn’t shake off the turbulence of being in a different world than her own. It gave her less anxiety than before, but it was a stretch to say she was completely comfortable with the situation. Her slight habit of depending on her dear friends made enduring the circumstances all the more difficult as well. But, she had to continue to try to be her own person. For her sake and for the sake of Starish, too.

“It’s funny... with more of us coming, I get this strange feeling of relief.” It wasn’t funny. “I know that they’re alright, since I’m able to see them in person for myself. Even so... it also makes me even more anxious to know if the others are okay at home.” She rubs at her arm in increasing discomfort. The embarrassment for the current thought at hand becomes apparent, expressing muddling into something that can only be described as sheepishly modest. “Is... Is it selfish to wish that everyone was here with us? I don’t feel good thinking like that. It’s safer at home, anyway..”

“It’s great to see you here,” He smiled softly at her. He truly did mean his words, after all, what would STARISH be without Haruka? She was the one who wrote their songs, not only that but brought everyone together. He was thankful for what she’s done, and the things she had made him realize along the way and changes she brought forth. Speaking of STARISH… Did Haruka know if Otoya and Tokiya were here? He started to ponder about that, maybe it’d be best if he mentioned it to her, just in case… “Did you know Ichinose-san and Ittoki-san are on this island as well?” He paused, there was also Quartet Night and Heavens as well… That was another thing he should mention… “Most of Quartet Night seems to be here too, along with a good amount of Heavens.”

“I was aware of Ichinose-san and Ittoki-kun being here, yes. Along with those two, Kotobuki-senpai and I worked in a group to set up beacons all over the city. The experience wasn’t exactly the most fun, but at the very least it helped me know that some of us were safe.” A hand combs through her hair while processing his words. Had there really been that many more people who arrived that she was blissfully unaware of? For how long? The thought made her self conscious, to be frank. Maybe she should have put more of an effort into finding the others... Her posture shifts uncomfortably before speaking again.

“I can’t say I knew the others were here too... I need to go find them and greet them properly when I get the chance...! But Hijirikawa-san, how long have you been here? I feel bad for not realizing that you were here sooner.”

Taking a walk and enjoying the scenery was rather peaceful, it was something he started to do quite often when he arrived onto the island. No matter where he walked, his feet would drag him towards the beach instantly. He enjoyed hearing the shifting of the ocean water, moving his feet across the sands of the beaches, and how quiet it seemed around this time of the day. However, this time seemed a little different. There was a gentle melody collaborating with the waves and the breeze to make things seem more calming, Masato didn’t realize it until he truly thought about it; but didn’t that voice sound familiar? It was a soft voice, one similar to the one that he heard quite often when he was working with his team with their performances. The more he thought and patched things together in his head, he could remember those vibrant beady eyes, and that bright red bob that matched with it. Memories started flashing in his head that showed her speaking and as they showed up; it really began to click. …It was her after all! He followed the source of the noise until he faced the very person he was thinking about just a few seconds ago. In an instant without thinking, he shouted the other’s name a little loudly. “Haruka!”

There was always something so infections about reflecting on her thoughts near bodies of water. The gentle waves that tended to ripple softly against even the smallest of winds... it was such a comforting thing, really. Her eyes were full of life as a melody naturally escaped her lips. Even if this was supposedly her new home now, she couldn’t stray away from the fact that the island, save for the time when it was in ruins and monsters had invaded, wasn’t all that bad. 

Looking out in the distance at the ocean was something that also triggered some very sweet nostalgia. The first memory coming to mind being that of when she finally made her decision to not choose a single person for the school exam, but each and every single one of her beloved friends. The second? The life changing event of staying at the agency’s resort house. Both were monumental stepping stones for the greater good of Starish’s blooming future of success.

A fragment of the past. A glimmering remnant of what started it all.

Her words cease to flow, heartfelt melody cutting short at an all too familiar voice catching her off guard. She turns around abruptly, eyes glimmering with a newfound happiness. 

“Hijirikawa-san...! You’re here too..!”

Several minutes have withered away while the blonde scrolls through the list on her cellphone, brows furrowing as she reads her screen over and over again. Her patience is dangling by a thin thread, her agitation only growing due to how indecisive she can be when it comes to making big decisions. And choosing a place to work at would definitely be pretty up there on that list. It doesn’t take much longer before a loud groan finally erupts from her, likely catching the attention of others nearby.

The android glances around quickly and as soon as she makes eye contact with one of the strangers nearby she instantly approaches them, waving her phone in front of their face incessantly, “Hey! Take a look at these job listings and tell me which one I look like I’d be best as because I can’t make up my mind!”

“I mean, obviously I’d be good at every single one of these but I’m not going to give up all of my free time. How are we supposed to make up our minds when there’s so many though?!” She drops her phone into the other’s hands so that she can cross her arms over her chest, “So I’m just going to have you pick one out for me. That is, unless you’ve got any other grand ideas…?”

Luckily for the composer’s sake, Haruka had no pressing matter to attend to. Her focus flares back to life when the android demands her attention, indicated by the small interchange of gazes. By Haruka’s mannerisms, one would be able to tell that she was already well acquainted with abrupt encounters like the one she faced in present time. Her hands cup around the device carefully, albeit out of respect for others’ belongings and as an extra precaution with her unfortunate clumsiness. 

After a moment of examining both the screen and the android’s overall stature, she looks up with a curious gaze, humming. She then extends her hand out to return the phone to it’s rightful owner.

“If I had to answer honestly, I’d say pick a job that you can utilize your high energy to the best extent possible,” Haruka concludes. Seeing an opportunity for misunderstanding, she shook her hands dismissively. “I don’t mean that in a bad way...!  Maybe some kind of performer or entertainer...? You have a lot of strong expression in body movement and the face. Those are pretty crucial things to have for those type of jobs, so I think you’d do well. What do you think?”

“I’m late to the conversation, but I only thought about my two cents to add right now. I think having crushes is a really wonderful thing in spirit! As long as it’s not presenting it in a dangerous or harmful way, most of the time a change of character is really... well.. earnest. Sometimes having a crush gives someone motivation to do things they didn’t want to before, go out of their way to do something for their crush, and everything in between. I think it’s a really sweet shift in demeanors usually... But that’s just my take on it.”

                “ah~ so innocent and pure~” she seemed like a GREAT prey, though it made him wonder how STUPID someone is to let themselves being held in this way by a complete STRANGER. it was hilarious at the same time, meaning that he could have FUN at some point, but seriously… human were just plain stupid. “of course you don’t get it, but if you come with me i’ll show you.” 

Right about now would be when her more instinctual better judgement chimed in, rightfully so, at the seemingly predatory words that escaped from his mouth. For a lack of better words, the air suddenly felt off, being almost akin to the initial feeling Eiichi gave her on their first meeting. Realization panging in her head, she pulls away, a rather discomforted expression now muddling up her prior confused look. 

“It’s not funny to toy around with someone like that. Especially someone you don’t know,” she adds curtly.

Perhaps it wasn’t the best thing to have been so accustomed to the guys in her life quietly breaking her personal space. Similarly, being thrust into a limousine, band tour bus, and jet plane all within the time span of ten minutes and considering it all a semi-normal occurrence probably didn’t help her case much either. Due to this behavioral and social conditioning, she wasn’t as on edge as she should have been.

Still, she was confused and conflicted nonetheless. She froze at the sudden contact, eyebrows furrowing.

“E-Eh? What sounds I make?... I don’t get what you mean...”

“Hey…! Be careful!” Sure, Tokiya had ran on ahead himself, but Otoya was being too reckless! This had to be bad for his stress levels. Still, he steeled himself and followed suit, bracing himself as he skidded down the rubble and took a moment or two to regain his balance once he was upright on his feet again.

“It’s here, right?” According to the radar it was practically beside him now, so he lifted the gun to point and shoot. “Stand clear!”

Tokiya’s sound constitution did well for calling Haruka back to earth. He was a great addition to the group, seeing as the composer may have gotten carried away with the enthusiasm of the other two. She heeled to a stop in her attempt of playing catch up, immediately swerving out of the direction of the gun’s line of fire. 

“Yes, but be careful! I don’t think any of us are sure of the gun’s firing capacity!”

“I’m sure we will.” He said, smiling at her gently. “You’ve been here a while then, Nanami-san?” He asked, letting go of her hand. He didn’t dare talk more about his world with her now. He didn’t want to confuse her or mess up anything in the process. That’s how time travel and all that works right?

“Not in this city specifically. I’ve been in the other city for awhile... My living conditions were worse there, but the city was at least held together well. It seems like it just flipped when we got to the island.” No further details than that were necessary to share. It wasn’t all bad! However, that didn’t change the fact that she would much rather be home. “Luckily, most of the people I’ve met were really considerate...”

> RE: Alright. I’ll see… >> Understood. I will be there within 15 minutes.

Aaaand sent. Nanami’s location was off the main street, along a walking-only street, meaning she couldn’t just order a cab from there. Masato decided, as he set off for the cafe, he would discuss further details when he arrived at the cafe instead of making up too many plans on his own.

Wait, was this umbrella big enough for two? … And waaaait. For… two?

“…!!” Yes, he did just set himself up for that. That’s right, he could just give Nanami this umbrella! Or buy one along the way!

For a moment, watching the rain pour down was a peaceful sight. The cold breeze that blew by also added to the wintery atmosphere. Her hands tugged snugly into her jacket, enjoying the ambiance as she waited patiently. Then, the air got so much colder. She shivered, trying to brace the temperature drop as best as she could.

Then, a sneeze.

“Uu... I hope it doesn’t get worse... What if it starts storming?...”

“Otoya, jeeze–” Tokiya would’ve gone to help him up, but apparently the red head was fine so he tried to quell his worry and focus on the radar. Sheesh, though…reckless… “Let’s go before someone beats us to it!” With that he jogged after Otoya quickly.

“That’s just the park up ahead right...? I couldn’t tell at first because of all the singed grass and rubble, but it’s bound to be a hotspot if we aren’t fast enough. Let’s go!” The overall enthusiasm of the group was infectious! Haruka didn’t slack either, running ahead to meet the adrenaline-induced speed of her teammates.

Oh, boy, so excitable. Tokiya walked after Otoya and Reiji at his own pace, glance cast back toward Nanami in ensuring she was following. It wouldn’t make sense to leave one of their team behind and all, nor splitting up when unnecessary. Though he called on ahead a bit with a slight frown eventually, “You shouldn’t run ahead of the ones who have the gun with a radar! You won’t find anything that way.”

Her pace of walking speed was a bit leisurely until she spotted the high-strung pair dash ahead. It was in that acknowledgement that she made the mental note to pick up her pace. Amidst of her game of catch up, she caught sight of a blinking dot from her periphery.

“Ichinose-kun! Everyone!” She calls out as she eyes the radar on the gun in Tokiya’s hands more attentively. “I think a spot is nearby!”

“I think it is to find where to place the beacons too. As far as I remember, that’s what… Ofiuco said.” He’d had to pause to recall the name. “Anyway, we should follow through with the plan now rather then standing around here… Are we all set to head out?” It certainly seemed like they could proceed now, but he didn’t want to go on ahead without them.

“Everything is fine in my side.” She notes such a thing with a nod of acknowledgement. “Let’s get going so we can utilize our ability and help the situation out as best as we can. If we’re able to knock out a lot of beacons at one time I’m sure it’d benefit all the other teams and lessen the load on their stress.”

“Do we have more then one of these? Splitting up in the way you’re suggesting would mean needing two.” Tokiya pointed out, lifting the strange gun carefully, sure not to direct it toward any of the other team members. Could never be too careful with this thing. “Still, Otoya makes a good point. If something happens to one of us, we’ll need people who can still participate so when it comes to getting into the more dangerous areas we could pair off for a little while. When it comes down to it, Otoya and I can go.” 

The thought of getting into danger at all wasn’t appealing, but one way or the other this was turning into a life or death situation. Do or die, as they say. He paused, lowering the gun.

“…I wonder how the radar works?”

Admittedly, the prospect of anyone coming into harm’s way wasn’t all that ideal in her mind. The duo, however, had proved time and time again that they are reliable to sensitive situations. She would just have to allow her amount of trust to overcome that underlining feeling of worry. “I’ll agree to that as long as everyone stays safe when it comes to that point. Please don’t be reckless about going into dangerous spots!”

“As for the radar... Don’t you think it’ll just go off when we reach the right spots? It wouldn’t make much sense to make it overly complicated when we all have to work around its findings...”
