“Do what I do; hire an assistant. I never even move a finger.” Martin laughed. “I lied. I make a list and hand it to my assistant and even that’s effort. You can have him if you want. He comes in very handy and he’s a total suck up so he never objects.”

“I so should do that! But I’d be a horrible boss--I mean Im a rude person anyway..and that’d just lead me giving this so called assistant all my chores and jobs....and I’d just be lazy..and well--Actually this is turning out a good idea. Where can I get one?”

“But that means going to the store--doing shit..and UGH god why are people just so hard?! I mean...I would gladly just be myself as a present, but people are so god damn demanding! You know what you can do? Help me gift wrap..I always do them shit and at least they’ll look good.”

“Don’t even remind me. After setting 10 reminders for the last 10 days of November, I completely forgot about Christmas shopping. And the worst thing is, my mom basically lives for those presents. Why do we have to live with this pressure? I don’t understand. The only spirit these holidays bring is expectations“. Riley shook his head.

“Exactly! Christmas has just become a bore. Like even the day! You have to go along with the stupid day..giving out presents--that cost a fortune..then lie about your job--deny the boyfriend question and you have to just get drunk to enjoy it! Maybe that’s just me..”

It had been nearly two weeks since Thea’s dryer had decided to quit working, and instead of buying a new one the blond had opted to cart her laundry to a local laundromat not entirely too far from her apartment. But, waiting for the clothes to dry was utterly boring, and the room quickly became too hot to withstand. So, Thea chose to stand outside the small building waiting for the buzzer to signal the end of the cycle. With earbuds in, and no stranger to impromptu dance marathons, Thea hit play. Music blared through her speakers and she started moving. It wasn’t until she was halfway through “Walking on Sunshine” that she realized she wasn’t alone. “Well, don’t just stand there.” She smiled, freeing one ear. “Join in!” Thea was completely aware of how ridiculous she looked standing in front of the laundromat dancing to music only she could hear, but she didn’t care. She was just having fun.

“I uh--don’t dance! But hey, you can just dance for the both of us..and I’ll just watch and...well try not to laugh.” the brunette joked at the blonde trying to dance. “god--if this ever happened in brooklyn, well it’d be a different story. this town is well--different.”

Every year around the time of the festival, Casper’s youngest brother would visit for a few days, bringing gifts the family had gotten for Casper so they wouldn’t get damaged in the mail traveling all the way from Oregon, and he’d help put up the decorations for Christmas. Decorating the outside of his house for Christmas was what the brothers were doing when Casper smelled burning cloth about forty minutes in. He quickly found the source of the stench when small flames jumped up the larger of one of the decorations. “Santa Claus is on fire,” he exclaimed.

“oh shit! do you need any help?” megan exclaimed as she ran over, seeing the small flames building. “quickly stamp on it! maybe it’s still retrievable!”
