Featuring Shin Megami Tensei IMAGINE... IMAGINATION?

This is an April Fool's post detailing a bullet hell system to be implemented in IMAGINE, with six set characters to play as rather than your own avatars. Despite it being an "update" to IMAGINE, it plays and has the appearance of an arcade shooter. To my knowledge, this post is simply a collection of very impressive mockups and was never actually implemented or created... but it sure looks like fun!

The six playable characters, from left to right, are named "En", "Gia", "Kou", "Eko", "Nagi", and "Kona".

いきなりこの絵は・・・・・

もちろんこれは新宿バベル。カラーでリアルな完成品じゃなくわざわざモノクロのデッサンを拝借してきた。

９「先週話をした新宿バベルだけど絵で見てもでっかいねぇ。」 M「高さ3000mあります。」 ９「そりゃ無茶な高さだな。富士山に挑戦してるのかぁ～。」 M「円形をしていまして、直系が約800mです。」 ９「高さと底辺の比率にしては高いと思うけど気のせい！？」 M「まぁすこしは・・・絵ということで。」 ９「高さ3000mのビルが実在できるかどうかはともかく、存在がリアルじゃなきゃ駄目。そこにいて臨場感のある設計じゃないと駄目なんだって。」 M「それはきちんと考えてます。半径400mなのでワンフロアの面積は約50万㎡。　地上666階、地下570階という計画で建てられました。これは東京23区がすっぽり入る計算になってます。」 ９「すっぽりか～。それにしても地上666階ってか～！エレベータどうなってるんだろうな？はたしてそのペントハウスには誰が住んでいるんだろうな？ここを牛耳っている誰かなんだろうか？」 M「いまは内装すべて出来上がっていませんのでペントハウスはありません。地下もまだこれから地面を掘って行きますので・・・・。」 ９「これから掘る！？それにしても地下570階ってお前マグマに当たっちゃわないか？」 M「マグマはそんな浅くないでしょう。」 ９「そうか、ただ温泉は出るな。地下500階　新宿天然温泉　悪魔館。・・誰も来ないな。」

M「こないだ話した七人の賢者がいた頃は地下計画はなかったんですが、いろいろあって内分裂して、七人の内、二人は死んで、二人はメシアとガイアの街造りに精を出して、一人は例の科学者、人工人間作ってて、一人は嫌気がさしてここを出て行って・・・。そして今は地下計画も進んだって噂です。」 ９「自分で書いてて噂扱いかい！じゃ誰がこれだけのものを作ってんだ？」 M「人工人間はいわば奴隷と同じです。古代エジプトのピラミッド建設と同じように使ったってわけです。」 ９「ああ、そうすると家族を蘇らせたいばっかりに、人工人間開発した奴とそれをせっせとそいつらを生産してる奴なのか・・・。」 M「そんなところですね。まぁ仮にK氏とS氏としておきましょうか。」 ９「イニシャルで言うところが逆にリアルにならないか？」

M「とにかくこの新宿バベルが東京復興の象徴であり、生きているものへの希望であると考えたんですがねぇ。最初はね。」 ９「山手線で渋谷を通って品川に逃げて、自分の城を作ってる飯屋のオヤジや、中央線使って神田で乗り換えて上野にアメ横再現してる三塁側外野の酋長にとって、こんな巨大な建物は脅威に見えないのかい？」 M「山手線だけにまわりくどいギャグですねー。　まぁ、その二人はバベルはかつて自分達が計画したのですから、脅威に感じています。しかし、即戦争ということにはなりません。メシアやガイアのなかにもそれぞれ鼻息の荒いタカ派もあれば、平和主義者もいるんで、そのバランスは取れています。」 ９「とにかくデカイ新宿バベルは存在し、その中にまずは新宿が凝縮されて入っているんだね。」 M「まぁ今のところそんな感じです。」 ９「そうすると、アトラスのコンシューマ事業部やスクウェアエニックス本社もケイブもみんなこの中に入っちゃってるってことだ。」 M「この時代にはゲームやプリクラは作ってはいないって話ですが、どうしましょう？」 ９「じゃあゲーム会社はみんな滅びちゃうのか？残そうよ、残してよ。残しましょうよ。せめてケイブ・オンラインだけでも残せ！」 M「（かなり馬鹿馬鹿しそうな顔をしながら）そういうんならケイブなんとかは生き延びて新宿バベルの8階にてオンラインゲームを製作中ということでいいですか？」 ９「そうそう誰がやるのかわからないけど、相変わらずオンラインゲーム開発してるって・・・。でも家賃高そうだな～。ワンフロア50万㎡って言うと、およそ15万坪だ。家賃は坪2万円でも月に30億円かかる計算だなぁ。でもうちの会社なら100坪あれば良いから、坪1万2千円ってことで、そこんとこ宜しく！」 M「わ、わかりました・・・。」

さ～て、新宿バベルっていう巨大な塔の全容はつかめてきたけど、悪魔がどう関わってくるかだな。きっと翼の折れたエンジェルなんかが後ろにいるんだろうな。経験的にはそうなんだと思うけどね。 ドイツ行きのメンバーも決まったし、松井の長期休暇も決まったし、そろそろImagineのクローズβの日も決めないとね。わっかんねーけどー！

I missed my old MegatenOnline character Vini and his Tam Lin. So I drew one of my favorite versions of Vini since Tam Lin had a recent redraw already. Only old screenshots exist of them now.

So there was a point during tonight’s adventure when Tam Lin unexpectedly died. And I had to ask myself; what happened? Mid-way there to revive him I noticed the problem.

Tam Lin stabbed himself through the neck. Don’t know how and don’t know why. But listen buddy, your aim is a bit off….

I died of laughter and a Gyuki. xD
