Hey there, I'm Meghan!
Hi! I'm a big wildlife nerd that takes photos of them now. I have a BS in environmental science and was originally in conservation- both wildlife and land. I also have a background in animal care and training, as I grew up on a farm and trained cats, dogs, and horses. I fell out of both it when I moved to Pittsburgh and due to the field being... messy, but I'm slowly getting back into it through volunteering with research projects. It's still a messy time to be in wildlife and conservation related fields, but that hasn't stopped my interest! I was thinking about making a different blog for my photos and wildlife content, but I've came to realize that I don't actually have that much fandom stuff that I talk about. So I'm just going to post it here instead! Here's my iNaturalist for anyone who wants to see all of my animal and plant photos! I have some landscape photos that aren't on there, but maybe I'll post them on here someday! I'm Megraptor on all other social media too (except Tik Tok, someone stole it from me before I could get it) so if you see me at other places, that's me too! I just don't use other places that much due to them being toxic. Tumblr being the least toxic place nowadays? Who knew!
Be warned, this wildlife stuff might be controversial at times, and even involve *shudder* politics. I'm always up for hearing respectful opinions from other people though, so feel free to send me a question! I'm also always looking for friends and colleagues in these and related fields, so feel free to say hi if you want to be friendly too! I also talk and post photos about ALL wildlife, that includes the creepy crawlies. I'll try and tag those with content warnings, but I'm sorry if I forget!
Right now for my photo projects, I'm trying to photo every salamander in my state of Pennsylvania. I'm also working on a photo of every snake, turtle, frog, and lizard too, but I'm not as far on those ones.
If you got this far, then have the first photo I took of two Eastern Red-backed Salamanders. Not a rare species at all, and not a great photo, but it's the first one I took back in 2019!
